The effect of ultrasound-guided intercostal nerve block, single-injection erector spinae plane block and multiple-injection paravertebral block on postoperative analgesia in thoracoscopic surgery: A randomized, double-blinded, clinical trial.
The study was to determine the analgesic effect of ultrasound-guided intercostal nerve block (ICNB) and single-injection erector spinae plane block (ESPB) in comparison with multiple-injection paravertebral block (PVB) after thoracoscopic surgery. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided multiple-injection PVB provided superior analgesia to ICNB and single-injection ESPB, while ICNB and single-injection ESPB were equally effective in reducing pain after thoracoscopic surgery.

Meta AnalysisContinuous nerve block versus single-shot nerve block for total knee arthroplasty: a meta-analysis from randomised controlled trials.
This meta-analysis aims to determine whether continuous nerve block (CNB) provides better pain relief and functional recovery than single-shot nerve block (SSNB) after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ CNB and SSNB have similar effects on pain relief, complications and functional recovery in patients receiving TKA. The optimal analgesic regimen for patients after TKA needs further identification.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of quadratus lumborum block on postoperative analgesic requirements in pediatric patients: a randomized controlled double blinded study.
Quadratus lumborum block (QLB) is a newly-defined trunk block performed with local anesthetic injection by imaging the abdominal muscles with ultrasonography (US) guidance; thus, analgesia is expected to be ensured from the T7-L1 dermatomal segment level. In the study, the aim was making the comparison between the quadratus lumborum block and the intravenous analgesia with tramadol on postoperative analgesic effect in pediatric patients undergoing lower abdominal surgery. ⋯ In conclusion, we believe QLB1 provides effective analgesia in the postoperative period for lower abdominal surgery in pediatric patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialPreemptive Analgesic Efficacy of the Ultrasound-Guided Bilateral Superficial Serratus Plane Block on Postoperative Pain in Breast Reduction Surgery: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Study.
Breast surgery is an exceedingly common procedure and associated with an increased incidence of acute and chronic pain. Preemptive regional anesthesia techniques may improve postoperative analgesia for patients undergoing breast surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of preoperative bilateral serratus plane block on postoperative opioid consumption in patients undergoing breast reduction surgery. ⋯ This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article.
