All over the world, climate change is exerting negative and complex effects on human living conditions and health. In this narrative review, we summarize the current global evidence regarding the effects of climate change on mental health. ⋯ The consequences of climate change are stress factors for mental health. Therefore, as global warming progresses, an increasing incidence and prevalence of mental illness is to be expected. Vulnerable groups, such as the (already) mentally ill, children, and adolescents, need to be protected. At the same time, there is a need for further systematic research on the mechanisms of action and effects of climate change on mental function.

Review Meta AnalysisEvolution of total hip arthroplasty in patients younger than 30 years of age: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
While surgical technique and implant technology for total hip arthroplasty (THA) has improved over the years, it is unclear whether recent progress has translated to improved clinical outcomes for young patients. The goal of this study is to determine trends in (1) indications, (2) surgical technique (3) clinical and radiographic outcomes, and (4) survivorship for THA in patients younger than 30 years of age. ⋯ Advances in surgical technique and technology have served to improve implant longevity. Surprisingly, subjective clinical scores showed no significant improvement over time, suggesting that early iterations of THA were extremely successful.

As defined by the WHO, the term post-COVID syndrome (PCS) embraces a group of symptoms that can occur following the acute phase of a SARS-CoV-2 infection and as a consequence thereof. PCS is found mainly in adults, less frequently in children and adolescents. It can develop both in patients who initially had only mild symptoms or none at all and in those who had a severe course of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ The gaps in our knowledge mean that better documentation of the prevalence of PCS is necessary to compile the data on which early detection, diagnosis, and treatment can be based. To ensure the best possible care of patients with PCS, regional PCS centers and networks embracing existing structures from all healthcare system sectors and providers should be set up and structured diagnosis and treatment algorithms should be established. Given the sometimes serious consequences of PCS for those affected, it seems advisable to keep the number of SARS-CoV-2 infections low by protective measures tailored to the prevailing pandemic situation.

ReviewPalliative care for adolescents and young adults with advanced illness: A scoping review.
Age-related complex medical conditions have been commonly reported among adolescents and young adults with advanced life-limiting illness. There is increasing interest in exploring their palliative care needs and end-of-life experiences. ⋯ The findings of this review shed light on the different palliative care experiences and knowledge gaps related to adolescents and young adults as an underserved and vulnerable patient population. Further research needs to be dedicated toward palliative care programs tailored for adolescents and young adults.

Spondylolysis and isthmic spondylolisthesis are commonly implicated as organic causes of low back pain in this population. Many patients involved in sports that require repetitive hyperextension of the lumbar spine like diving, weightlifting, gymnastics and wrestling develop spondylolysis and isthmic spondylolisthesis. While patients are typically asymptomatic in mild forms, the hallmark of symptoms in more advanced disease include low back pain, radiculopathy, postural changes and rarely, neurologic deficits. ⋯ Due to the risk of disease progression, referral to a spine surgeon is recommended for any patient suspected of having these conditions. This review provides information and guidelines for practitioners to promote an actionable awareness of spondylolysis and isthmic spondylolisthesis.
