Testicular malignancies commonly affect adolescent and young adult males. Although they tend to respond well to cisplatin-based chemotherapy with excellent overall survival, complications such as inferior vena cava tumor thrombus are rare and can be associated with high morbidity and mortality. We present a case of tumor thrombus in a 21-year-old active duty male with a newly diagnosed stage IIIB non-seminomatous germ cell tumor presenting with extensive left lower extremity swelling. ⋯ Computed tomography imaging revealed extensive thrombus of the inferior vena cava, left iliac veins, and left gonadal vein with sparing of the left renal vein. Endovascular thrombectomy was performed with pathologic analysis confirming the presence of malignant cells consistent with tumor thrombus. The patient continued subsequent non-seminomatous germ cell tumor treatment without complications.

China is home to the second largest population of children and adolescents in the world. Yet demographic shifts mean that the government must manage the challenge of fewer children with the needs of an ageing population, while considering the delicate tension between economic growth and environmental sustainability. We mapped the health problems and risks of contemporary school-aged children and adolescents in China against current national health policies. ⋯ We identified a mismatch between current health determinants, risks and outcomes, and government policies. To promote the health of children and adolescents in China, we recommend a set of strategies that target government-led initiatives across the health, education, and community sectors, which aim to build supportive and responsive families, safe communities, and engaging and respectful learning environments. Gender dysphoria is socially more visible and discussed today, but still underdiagnosed. It refers to distress and/or impaired function caused by inconsistency between the sex assigned at birth and gender identification. ⋯ We describe the diagnosis of gender dysphoria and use of a patient centered multidisciplinary and family approach in a 12-year-old rural born adolescent, assigned female at birth. Our aim is to raise awareness of early symptoms and signs of gender dysphoria and problems faced by transgender people and their families during childhood, leading to gender dysphoria, and we hope our successful approach might improve healthcare provision for these patients, particularly in rural areas.

A biopsychosocial approach to understanding and treating pain is crucial; however, there are limited socially targeted interventions for adolescents with chronic pain (ACP). Peer support interventions implemented with other populations are associated with positive outcomes. ACPs perceive peer support to have high potential value. This study explored the preferences of ACP regarding the content and design of a group peer support intervention. ⋯ ACPs desire a facilitated socially focused intervention that provides them with the opportunity to spend time with other ACPs. A group peer support environment where ACPs can provide and receive peer support through sharing their experiences with others who understand them as well as engage in activities was described. The findings from this study provide insights for the development of a group peer support intervention.
