Prognosis and clinicopathological characteristics of metaplastic breast cancer: A meta-analysis.
To compare the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of metaplastic breast cancer (MBC) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). ⋯ Patients with MBC had worse prognosis than those with TNBC. Furthermore, regarding clinicopathological characteristics, patients with MBC mostly presented at ≥ 50 years of age, with tumor diameter > 5 cm, and negative lymph nodes at first diagnosis. Moreover, there were no statistically significant differences in the occurrence of distant metastasis, TNM stages III and IV, or histological grade 3. MBC treatment was not assessed in this study. Data from randomized controlled trials are needed to guide the treatment of patients with MBC.

The effect of Taohong Siwu decoction combined with antihypertensive medicine in the treatment of hypertension: Meta-analysis.
Taohong Siwu Decoction (THSWD) is a classic prescription of traditional Chinese medicine. Recent research has shown that the practical components of THSWD have specific curative effects on various cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension, suggesting THSWD could effectively lower blood pressure (BP) with fewer side effects. However, little information is available regarding the effectiveness of THSWD combined with antihypertensive medicine on hypertension. ⋯ THSWD combined with antihypertensive drugs in treating hypertension was curative in lowering BP, improving blood lipid levels and reducing the incidence of adverse reactions compared to antihypertensive medications treatment. However, more high-quality studies are needed due to the biased results and the small number of studies for further verification of the effectiveness of THSWD, and providing a new treatment for clinical reference.

Thunder-fire moxibustion for lumbar disc herniation: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common degenerative disease that severely impacts the quality of life of patients. Thunder-fire moxibustion is an ancient Chinese medicine-based external therapeutic procedure that has been employed for pain relief until this day. The focus of our study was to demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of thunder-fire moxibustion in the treatment of LDH. ⋯ Thunder-Fire moxibustion is effective in relieving discomfort in patients with LDH. It has significant clinical efficacy, but there is still a need for prospective, multicentre, large-sample randomized controlled trials to enhance the clinical evidence due to the quality of included studies and methodological limitations.

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is an inflammatory arthropathy with onset in children younger than 16 years. Treatment is primarily medical; however, surgical interventions, such as arthroscopic or open synovectomy, can be beneficial. Many studies have investigated synovectomy in JIA, but the results of these studies have not been synthesized to our knowledge. Therefore, we performed a systematic review of the literature reporting synovectomy as a treatment for JIA to provide clinical recommendations regarding its risks and benefits. ⋯ Although synovectomy is associated with positive functional outcomes and pain reduction postoperatively, there was inadequate comparison thus inadequate evidence to recommend it over modern medical therapy. The current literature suggests that synovectomy should be offered only to patients for whom medical management has failed, while noting the risks of decreased range of motion and symptom recurrence over time.

Acupuncture for postoperative pain of lumbar disc herniation: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Evidence for the effects of acupuncture on postoperative pain of Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is inconsistent. We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture for postoperative pain of LDH. ⋯ Acupuncture is an effective and safe treatment for postoperative pain of LDH. It can be recommended to manage patients with postoperative pain of LDH. However, considering the unsatisfactory quality of the included studies, more high-quality randomized controlled trials with a large sample size are needed to elucidate this issue.
