Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEvaluation of the use of telemedicine in pediatric intensive care units: a cluster-randomized trial.
Telemedicine has shown promising results, allowing specialists to provide rapid and effective care in remote locations. However, to our knowledge, current evidence is not robust enough to prove the effectiveness of this tool. This cluster-randomized trial (CRT) aimed to evaluate the impact of telemedicine on clinical care indicators in pediatric intensive care units (PICUs). ⋯ ClinicalTrials.gov NCT05260710 and ReBEC - RBR-7×j4wyp.

Effects of Natural Sound Therapy on Pain and Agitation Induced by Endotracheal Suctioning: A Real-World Study.
Music therapy has been used as a complementary intervention to provide synergistic analgesia for various procedures. ⋯ In this real-world study, natural sound therapy was part of a holistic bundle of interventions used to reduce pain and agitation in surgical intensive care unit patients during endotracheal suctioning.

Effect of Reintubation Within 48 Hours on Mortality in Critically Ill Patients After Planned Extubation.
Re-intubation is necessary in 2% to 30% of cases of patients receiving a planned extubation. This procedure is associated with prolonged mechanical ventilation, a greater need for tracheostomy, a higher incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, and higher mortality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of re-intubation within 48 h on mortality after planned extubation by using a randomized controlled trial database. ⋯ Re-intubation within 48 h after planned extubation was associated with mortality in subjects who were critically ill.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEMPOWER: A Multi-Site Pilot Trial to Reduce Distress in Surrogate Decision-Makers in the ICU.
Efforts to reduce the psychological distress of surrogate decision-makers of critically ill patients have had limited success, and some have even exacerbated distress. ⋯ EMPOWER appeared feasible and acceptable, increased surrogates' satisfaction with critical care, and prevented escalation of posttraumatic stress, grief, and depression 3 months later.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of Vibration Therapy on the Physical Function of Critically Ill Adults Trial: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Vibration therapy uses vibration to rehabilitate physical functions. Recently, it has been demonstrated to be safe for critically ill patients. However, its effects on physical functions are unclear. ⋯ Vibration therapy did not improve the total FSS-ICU. However, the supine-to-sit ability in the FSS-ICU improved without any adverse event.
