Considering the importance of pain acceptance in adjusting to chronic pain among diabetic patients, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between the empowerment scale and the level of chronic pain acceptance among the elderly with diabetes and the resulting limitations. ⋯ Based on the results of this study, the level of empowerment, pain acceptance, and pain-related limitations in the older patients with diabetes was moderate and there was no significant relationship between them. Identifying vulnerable groups in the field of chronic pain and preventive, educational and therapeutic interventions will help increase patients' self-care capacity and reduce the limitations and the disability caused by pain.

Impact of Digital Technologies on Clinical Care for Adults with Cystic Fibrosis.
The coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic accelerated the implementation of digital technologies, which have now become embedded as essential tools for the management of chronic disease, including cystic fibrosis (CF). Despite subsequent easing of restrictions and because of improved clinical stability resulting from the introduction of highly effective modulator therapy, digital technologies including video and telephone consultations and remote monitoring are likely to remain integral to the future delivery of CF health care. In this article, we explore some of the key developments in digital technologies, barriers to their adoption, and how the CF community is likely to embrace lessons learned from the recent pandemic to help modernize and reshape the future of CF care.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging has been used to investigate nociceptive processes in patients with chronic pain. However, the results may be confounded with changes in neurovascular coupling induced by chronic pain. The objective of this study was to examine spinal neurovascular coupling in a rat model of chronic back pain induced by muscle inflammation. ⋯ Nevertheless, neurovascular coupling was comparable between groups on days 14 and 28, whether neurovascular coupling was calculated with the amplitude or the area under the curve of SCBF responses (all P > 0.2). These results indicate that spinal hemodynamic changes reflect neuronal activity in this animal model, although the time course of SCBF responses is affected by chronic inflammatory back pain. This warrants a careful use of spinal functional magnetic resonance imaging in animal models and patients with chronic back pain.
