Cardiovascular CasesSESSION TYPE: Case ReportsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 04:15 PM - 05:15 PMINTRODUCTION: Dilatation of the main pulmonary artery in the absence of pulmonary hypertension is a rare condition with numerous identified etiologies. Idiopathic pulmonary artery dilatation (IPAD) is a diagnosis of exclusion and is an extremely rare cause of pulmonary artery dilatation. Here we discuss a case of IPAD presenting as unexplained dyspnea. ⋯ IPAD is considered to be a benign condition. However, given the inherent risk of pulmonary artery rupture, it is prudent to observe these patients closely for a prolonged period of time.Reference #1: Idiopathic Dilatation of the Pulmonary Artery.
