To determine the stability of respiratory samples for SARS-CoV-2 PCR at standard laboratory ultra-freezer temperatures (-80°C). ⋯ SARS-CoV-2 positive respiratory specimens for PCR can be stored for up to six months at -70°C or below without loss of sample integrity, though there is some loss of PCR-detected viral targets as evidenced by an immediate increased in the PCR-generated Ct values. In addition, samples with initial Ct values above 30 are more likely to give non-reproducible results.

Cancer Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) Regarding the Policies Implemented to Contain the Spread of Sars-CoV-2 and Vaccination Campaign at Veneto Institute of Oncology.
The SARS-CoV-2 spread has impacted Healthcare systems. COVID-19 pandemic has had consequences for patients with cancer, being associated with delays in diagnosis, in treatment And follow-up care, increase in overall infection rates and higher mortality. A survey on COVID-19 and a vaccination-questionnaire were developed at different times of the outbreak, to evaluate cancer patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) on the policies implemented to reduce the infection from SARS-CoV-2 and on the timing and methods of COVID-19 vaccination. ⋯ PREMs during COVID-19 pandemic and related vaccination can provide important information to help reorganization of the health care systems for cancer care. Patients' feedback on the organizational changes implemented in the emergency period are essential for healthcare improvement and to help informed choices that are consistent with patients' needs.

During the past two years we have witness a tremendous worldwide health crisis imposed by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). This situation led to the urgent development and implementation of vaccines in an attempt to decrease not only the SARS-CoV-2 transmissibility but also the severe forms of COVID-19. Although these vaccines were approved based on an adequate benefit-risk ratio, at the moment of their implementation in 2021 we did not have sub-studies in special populations; patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) among them. ⋯ The flare presented with an increased protein/creatinine ratio in urine and positive anti-DNA antibodies without other relevant accompanying findings. After treatment with prednisone (20 y 10 mg/day in case 1 and 2, respectively) and an increased dose of mycophenolate (from 1.5 g/day to 2.0 g/dayand 1.08 to 1.44 g/día of sodic mycophenolate in case 1 y 2, respectively) both patients regained renal remission. These cases are of relevance as they introduce a possible association between the different anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccine platforms and SLE flares; at the same time to suggest the need for close control in the post vaccination period in this population of patients.

To contribute to the study of the disease, data were recorded from all hospitalized patients in the Clinical Medicine room of Hospital Municipal Dr. Raúl Caccavo, Coronel Suárez, Buenos Aires province, diagnosed with COVID-19 in the first year of the pandemia (March 2020 to March 2021), the only health institution where patients were hospitalized in our city. A descriptive and retrospective transversal cut study was carried out with 178 patients (average age: 61 years old, range: 9 months -96 years), 90% of them hospitalized for a respiratory cause. ⋯ All patients hospitalized for respiratory causes were subjected to a thorax tomography, and 69% of them presented bilateral infiltration in ground glass. The laboratory tests revealed leucopenia in 15% of the patients and thrombocytopenia in 3% of them. These data could be an input for the development of COVID-19 clinical prediction models, although more evidence will be needed for that end.

To identify association of epidemiological characteristics, presence of underlying pre-morbidities and disease severity with time to first negative PCR in Corona virus disease 2019. ⋯ The underlying epidemiological factors, pre-morbidities and disease severity are associated with time to negative PCR and hence affect frequency of recovery samples.
