Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison Between Intraoperative Two-Space Injection Thoracic Paravertebral Block and Wound Infiltration as a Component of Multimodal Analgesia for Postoperative Pain Management After Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Lobectomy: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To compare paravertebral block under thoracoscopy with wound infiltration at an early stage after video-assisted thoracic lobectomy surgery. ⋯ As part of the multimodal postoperative analgesia, intraoperative paravertebral block provided better dynamic pain relief and reduced morphine consumption compared with local wound infiltration.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of dexamethasone on quality of recovery following vaginal surgery: a randomized trial.
Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid with minimal side effects that may improve quality of recovery. We sought to evaluate standard use of this medication prior to vaginal reconstructive surgery. ⋯ Use of dexamethasone prior to vaginal reconstructive surgery was associated with less nausea/vomiting and need for antiemetics as well as greater success with voiding trials. Furthermore, quality of recovery was enhanced, suggesting use of dexamethasone should be considered for these patients.

Administration of paracetamol versus dipyrone by intravenous patient-controlled analgesia for postoperative pain relief in children after tonsillectomy.
We compared the efficacy of intravenous (IV) paracetamol versus dipyrone via patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) for postoperative pain relief in children. ⋯ Paracetamol and dipyrone have well tolerability profile and effective analgesic properties when administered IV-PCA for postoperative analgesia in children after tonsillectomy.

Randomized Controlled TrialDouble edge closure: a novel technique for reducing post-thoracotomy pain. A randomized control study.
Thoracic surgeons being doctors, spend much effort not only to manage pathologies but also to make their procedures painless. Many surgical manoeuvres have been evolved to reduce post-thoracotomy pain with its associated morbidities. This trial aimed to study the impact of double edge closure technique on post-thoracotomy pain. ⋯ Double edge technique for thoracotomy closure is easy, rapid, safe and effective in decreasing post-thoracotomy pain with subsequent earlier ambulation and lesser use of analgesics.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Effect of Low-Dose Dexmedetomidine as an Adjuvant to Levobupivacaine in Patients Undergoing Vitreoretinal Surgery Under Sub-Tenon's Block Anesthesia.
This study evaluated the motor and sensory block durations and the postoperative analgesic effects of adding dexmedetomidine to levobupivacaine for sub-Tenon's block anesthesia in patients undergoing vitreoretinal surgery. Motor and sensory block durations were considered as a primary end point. ⋯ For patients undergoing vitreoretinal surgery, adding 20 μg of dexmedetomidine to levobupivacaine for sub-Tenon's block anesthesia in vitreoretinal surgery extended the motor and sensory block durations and provided more effective postoperative analgesia with improvement in the sleep quality in the first postoperative night compared with levobupivacaine alone.
