The six global nutrition targets (GNTs) related to low birthweight, exclusive breastfeeding, child growth (ie, wasting, stunting, and overweight), and anaemia among females of reproductive age were chosen by the World Health Assembly in 2012 as key indicators of maternal and child health, but there has yet to be a comprehensive report on progress for the period 2012 to 2021. We aimed to evaluate levels, trends, and observed-to-expected progress in prevalence and attributable burden from 2012 to 2021, with prevalence projections to 2050, in 204 countries and territories. ⋯ Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

To evaluate temporal trends in gender, etiology, severity, outcomes, cost and median length of stay (MLS) in patients with acute pancreatitis (AP) in a third-tier Chinese city. ⋯ Over the observational period, the proportion of male patients with AP, prevalence of age-adjusted rate of HTG and alcohol-associated AP and SAP increased, while MLS and MCH for all patients decreased, and the time trend of mortality of AP was stable.

Prevalence of Temporomandibular Disorder Symptoms After Whiplash Trauma-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) is an umbrella term for pain and dysfunction involving jaw muscles and/or the temporomandibular joint, with whiplash trauma suggested to be one risk factor. The aim was to evaluate prevalence and relative risk of TMDs in the acute and chronic stages after whiplash trauma. ⋯ The prevalence of Temporomandibular disorder pain was high already in the acute stage after whiplash trauma, and there was no evidence of any decrease from the acute to the chronic stage. This finding suggests that early assessment and management rather than a 'wait-and see' approach should be recommended when patients present with orofacial pain related to whiplash trauma.

The aim of this study was to quantify lymph node metastasis (LNM) risk and outcomes following treatment of early esophago-gastric (EG) adenocarcinoma. ⋯ This large multicenter data set suggests that early EG adenocarcinoma is associated with significant risk of LNM. These data are representative of current real clinical practice with ER-based staging, and suggests previously held beliefs regarding reliability of predictive factors for LNM may need to be reconsidered. Further research to identify patients who may benefit from organ-preserving versus surgical treatment is urgently required.

Pain and depressive symptoms often co-occur, but the influence of pain intensity remains unclear. This study analyses the association between pain intensity and depressive symptoms in the general adult German population. ⋯ Our study found a clear association between higher pain intensity and depressive symptoms in the general population across all types of pain. Further, being underweight was linked to depressive symptoms overall and the highest prevalence of depressive symptoms was found in underweight persons with severe pain. These findings highlight the importance of assessing depressive symptoms in patients with higher pain intensity, especially in underweight patients.
