Multicenter Study Observational StudySerial Trauma Abdominal Ultrasound in Children (STAUNCH): A Pilot Study.
Ultrasound has established utility within pediatric emergency medicine and has an added benefit of avoiding excessive radiation exposure. The serial focused assessment with sonography in trauma (sFAST) examination is a potential alternative to improve pediatric trauma evaluation. We sought to evaluate the accuracy of sFAST in pediatric patients with blunt abdominal trauma. ⋯ This pilot study found that sFAST can enhance blunt trauma evaluation and improve sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy. More data are needed to determine how sFAST can be utilized in pediatric patients with blunt abdominal trauma.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyAssessment of the comparative agreement between chest radiographs and CT scans in intensive care units.
Chest radiographs in critically ill patients can be difficult to interpret due to technical and clinical factors. We sought to determine the agreement of chest radiographs and CT scans, and the inter-observer variation of chest radiograph interpretation, in intensive care units (ICUs). ⋯ Chest radiographs commonly miss important radiological features in critically ill patients. Inter-observer agreement in chest radiograph interpretation is only "fair". Consultant radiologists are least likely to miss thoracic radiological abnormalities. The consequences of misdiagnosis by chest radiographs remain to be determined.

Artificial Intelligence for Real-Time Prediction of the Histology of Colorectal Polyps by General Endoscopists.
Real-time prediction of histologic features of small colorectal polyps may prevent resection and/or pathologic evaluation and therefore decrease colonoscopy costs. Previous studies showed that computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) was highly accurate, though it did not outperform expert endoscopists. ⋯ Olympus America Corporation served as the clinical study sponsor.

Validation of the transcranial Doppler rescue criteria for mechanical thrombectomy.
Transcranial Doppler (TCD) identifies acute stroke patients with arterial occlusion where treatment may not effectively open the blocked vessel. This study aimed to examine the clinical utility and prognostic value of TCD flow findings in patients enrolled in a multicenter prospective study (CLOTBUST-PRO). ⋯ TCD is a valuable modality for evaluating arterial circulation in acute ischemic stroke patients, demonstrating significant potential as a screening tool for intravenous/intra-arterial lysis protocols.
