Randomized Controlled Trial
A randomized, controlled clinical trial of acupoint catgut embedding as an effective control of functional anorectal pain.
Patients with functional anorectal pain (FAP) usually feel pain in the anal region, foreign body sensation, and defecation disorders. The pain may radiate to the perineum, thighs, and waist. Conventional biofeedback, local nerve block and surgical treatment have certain limitations. Thread-embedding acupuncture (TEA) is a complementary and alternative therapy, which is widely used in the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine to treat functional anorectal pain. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of the catgut-embedding acupuncture in patients with FAP. ⋯ The thread-embedding acupuncture treatment effectively and safely improved the emotional anxiety and quality of life in FAP patients.

Effects of music therapy on pain relief during fundus screening in infants: Randomized controlled clinical trial.
To determine the efficacy of music therapy on pain relief during fundus screening in infants. ⋯ Music therapy can effectively reduce pain and crying, and increase blood oxygen saturation during fundus examination of infants. Music with a rhythm of 60 to 80 beats per minute can decrease HR. Music therapy must be remembered to increase infants' comfort during fundus examination.

Randomized Controlled TrialRebound pain after interscalene brachial plexus block for shoulder surgery: a randomized clinical trial of the effect of different multimodal analgesia regimens.
Rebound pain is characterized by sudden, significant acute postoperative pain occurring after the resolution of inter-scalene block (ISB); it affects the quality of recovery postoperatively. Dexamethasone increases ISB resolution time and decreases opioid consumption and the incidence of rebound pain. ⋯ Single-center study.

Preoperative planning of compact zone trajectory is necessary in treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture with endplate involvement: A prospective randomized controlled study.
This prospective randomized controlled study compares the clinical and radiological outcomes between reduction methods with or without compact trabecular bone during percutaneous kyphoplasty in osteoporotic vertebral fractures. ⋯ Elevating and reinforcing the collapsed endplate rather than just filling the defect during percutaneous kyphoplasty is safe and effective. This technique decreased pain and improved function with lower rates of further collapse of the osteoporotic vertebrae compared to defect-filling alone.

The effectiveness of vitamin D3 supplementation in improving functional outcome of non-surgically treated symptomatic lumbar spinal stenosis: Randomized controlled clinical trial - Pilot study.
Although vitamin D is one of the essential nutrients associated with musculoskeletal system function, there is no standard treatment method for vitamin D deficiency. This study aimed to investigate the effects of vitamin D supplementation on the improvement in symptoms, functional recovery of the spine, and changes in the quality of life in patients with spinal stenosis. ⋯ If a vitamin D deficiency that does not require surgical treatment exists in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis, high-dose vitamin D injections can improve lower back pain, which is the main symptom of lumbar spinal stenosis, as well as the functional outcomes of the spine and quality of life.
