Many articles have been published on pituitary adenomas. Bibliometric analyses are helpful for determining the most impactful studies within a field. ⋯ This study identified the research focuses and trends regarding pituitary adenoma and provides key references for investigators in guiding future pituitary adenoma research.

Despite increasing number of publications in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), no bibliometric analysis has been conducted to evaluate the significance of highly cited articles. Our objectives were to identify the top-cited articles in IBD, assessing their characteristics and determining the quality of evidence provided by these articles. ⋯ Research papers represented 66% of articles. The majority of items have reasonably high levels of evidence, which may have contributed to the higher number of citations. The study also shows a gender gap in authorship in this area.

The best cited articles of the European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (EJOST): a bibliometric analysis.
European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (EJOST) was founded in 1991. It was initially named as Orthopédie-Traumatologie, and since then it is dedicated in sharing knowledge and new evidence in the field of orthopaedics. ⋯ By the very beginning of its launch, it has been publishing high-quality research articles in all orthopaedic subspecialties and has gradually become one of the leading journals in its specific subject area. The aim of this study was to identify, analyse and categorize the most frequently cited articles, published by EJOST since its launch.

There is an abundance of works published on severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI). Bibliometric analyses aim to provide a macroscopic view of research activities regarding sTBI and are helpful in determining the most impactful studies within this field. ⋯ The present study provides a cross-sectional summary of the 100 most-cited articles on sTBI, highlighting areas of research needing further investigation and development.

Bibliometric analysis of peer-reviewed literature in transgender health (1900 - 2017).
Transgender community is marginalized and under-researched. Analysis of peer-reviewed literature in transgender health is needed to better understand health needs and human rights of transgender people. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze global research activity in transgender health published in peer-reviewed journals. ⋯ There was a noticeable growth of research in transgender health in the last decade. Researchers from different world regions need to get involved in health and human rights research of transgender community.
