Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Pharyngeal electrical stimulation for early decannulation in tracheotomised patients with neurogenic dysphagia after stroke (PHAST-TRAC): a prospective, single-blinded, randomised trial.
Dysphagia after stroke is common, especially in severely affected patients who have had a tracheotomy. In a pilot trial, pharyngeal electrical stimulation (PES) improved swallowing function in this group of patients. We aimed to replicate and extend this single-centre experience. ⋯ Phagenesis Ltd.

Key performance indicators' assessment to develop best practices in an Emergency Medical Communication Centre.
Emergency Medical Communication Centre (EMCC) represents a pivotal link in the chain of survival for those requiring rapid response for out-of-hospital medical emergencies. Assessing and grading the performance of EMCCs are warranted as it can affect the health and safety of the served population. ⋯ The occupation rate appeared to be the most important factor contributing towards the QS20. Our data will be useful to develop best practices and guidelines in the field of emergency medicine communication centres.

Fever Burden and Health-Related Quality of Life After Intracerebral Hemorrhage.
Fever is associated with worse functional outcomes after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH); however, there are few prospective data to quantify the relationship with health-related quality of life (HRQoL). We tested the hypothesis that increased burden of fever is independently associated with decreased HRQoL at follow-up. ⋯ Each additional day with a fever was predictive of worse HRQoL domains of Cognitive Function and Mobility after ICH up to 1 year. These data extend previous evidence on the negative association of fever and functional outcomes to the domains of Cognitive Function and Mobility HRQoL. HRQoL outcomes may be a sensitive and powerful way to measure the efficacy of fever control in future research.
