Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEfficacy and Safety of an Intravenous Acetaminophen/Ibuprofen Fixed-dose Combination After Bunionectomy: a Randomized, Double-blind, Factorial, Placebo-controlled Trial.
Multimodal analgesia with acetaminophen and/or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is recommended for the treatment of postoperative pain. Although oral fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) are available, parenteral administration may be clinically justified. The goal of this study was to investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of an intravenous FDC of ibuprofen and acetaminophen after bunionectomy. ⋯ The study found that repeated administration of an intravenous FDC of ibuprofen and acetaminophen provided statistically significant improvement in SPID48 over comparable doses of either monotherapy without an increase in adverse events. Comparison of the postoperative analgesic efficacies of intravenous acetaminophen and fascia iliaca compartment block inhip fracture surgery: A randomised controlled trial.
Managing pain during movement after hip fracture surgery is important for achieving earlier hip mobilisation and for preventing postoperative complications. In the present study, we tested the hypothesis that the fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) would improve postoperative pain on movement compared with intravenous acetaminophen. ⋯ FICB improved postoperative pain on movement compared with intravenous acetaminophen without increasing the complication rate. However, the total number of rescue analgesics required and the time to first standing were not significantly different between the two groups.

To test the hypothesis that ibuprofen is equivalent to acetaminophen in its effect on postpartum blood pressure in women with gestational hypertension or preeclampsia without severe features. ⋯ Among women with gestational hypertension and preeclampsia without severe features, ibuprofen is an equally safe option as acetaminophen with respect to postpartum blood pressure concerns.

Intravenous vs Oral Acetaminophen for Analgesia After Cesarean Delivery: A Randomized Trial.
Examination of postoperative analgesia with intravenous and oral acetaminophen. ⋯ Intravenous acetaminophen did not reduce 24-hour opioid consumption or other outcomes compared with oral acetaminophen. Intravenous acetaminophen did decrease opioid consumption and pain scores compared with no acetaminophen.

Premedication with oral paracetamol for reduction of propofol injection pain: a randomized placebo-controlled trial.
To compare the effect of premedication with 2 different doses of oral paracetamol to prevent pain at propofol intravenous injection. ⋯ A premedication with oral paracetamol can dose-dependently reduce pain at propofol intravenous injection. To avoid this common uncomfortable concern for the patients, this well-tolerated, available and cheap treatment appears as an option to be implemented in the current practice.
