Percutaneous Vascular Interventions Versus Bypass Surgeries in Patients With Critical Limb Ischemia: A Comprehensive Meta-analysis.
The aim of our study was to compare percutaneous vascular interventions (PVI) versus bypass surgeries (BSX) in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI). ⋯ For patients in good physical condition with long life-expectancy, BSX may represent a better choice compared with PVI, particularly when autogenous bypass is available. While enhanced perioperative care for cardiovascular events and surgical site should be considered in patients underwent BSX to achieve comparable short-term outcomes provided by PVI.

Chest Wall Resection for Recurrent Breast Cancer in the Modern Era: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
To review the literature on chest wall resection for recurrent breast cancer and evaluate overall survival (OS) and quality-of-life (QOL) outcomes. ⋯ Full-thickness chest wall resection can be performed with excellent survival and low morbidity. Few studies report on QOL; prospective studies should focus on patient-centered outcomes in this population.

Meta AnalysisMarriage and risk of dementia: systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies.
Being married is associated with healthier lifestyle behaviours and lower mortality and may reduce risk for dementia due to life-course factors. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies of the association between marital status and the risk of developing dementia. ⋯ Being married is associated with reduced risk of dementia than widowed and lifelong single people, who are also underdiagnosed in routine clinical practice. Dementia prevention in unmarried people should focus on education and physical health and should consider the possible effect of social engagement as a modifiable risk factor.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Meta-analysis of delayed gastric emptying after pylorus-preserving versus pylorus-resecting pancreatoduodenectomy.
Delayed gastric emptying (DGE) is a frequent complication after pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy. Recent studies have suggested that resection of the pylorus is associated with decreased rates of DGE. However, superiority of pylorus-resecting pancreatoduodenectomy was not shown in a recent RCT. This meta-analysis summarized evidence of the effectiveness and safety of pylorus-preserving compared with pylorus-resecting pancreatoduodenectomy. ⋯ Pylorus-resecting pancreatoduodenectomy is not superior to pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy for reducing DGE or other relevant complications.

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery for Noncolorectal Surgery?: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Major Abdominal Surgery.
To evaluate the impact of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols across noncolorectal abdominal surgical procedures. ⋯ ERAS protocols decreased length of stay and cost by not increasing complications or readmission rates. This study adds to the evidence that ERAS protocols are safe to implement and are beneficial to surgical patients and the healthcare system across multiple abdominal procedures.
