Adolescent and Caregiver Perspectives on Living With a Limb Fracture: A Qualitative Study.
Fractures occur in up to half of children by age 16 years. After initial emergency care for a fracture, function is universally impaired in children, and impacts extend to the immediate family. Knowledge of expected functional limitations is key to providing proper discharge instructions and anticipatory guidance to families. ⋯ Overall, caregivers' perspectives were congruent with the self-described experiences of adolescents. Key messages for optimized discharge instructions include pain and sleep management, allowing extra time to complete tasks independently, considering impact on siblings, preparing for changes in activities and social dynamics, and normalizing frustration. These themes highlight an opportunity to better tailor discharge instructions for adolescents with fractures.

Needs-based novel digital curriculum for the neuromodulation training deficit: Pain Rounds.
This study reports the needs-based development, effectiveness and feasibility of a novel, comprehensive spinal cord stimulation (SCS) digital curriculum designed for pain medicine trainees. The curriculum aims to address the documented systematic variability in SCS education and empower physicians with SCS expertise, which has been linked to utilization patterns and patient outcomes. Following a needs assessment, the authors developed a three-part SCS e-learning video curriculum with baseline and postcourse knowledge tests. ⋯ Self-reported prior SCS experience had low to moderate positive correlations with Part I and Part III pretest scores (r=0.25, p=0.006; r=0.37, p<0.001, respectively). Initial evidence suggests that Pain Rounds provides an innovative and effective solution to the SCS curriculum deficit. A future controlled study should examine this digital curriculum's long-term impact on SCS practice and treatment outcomes.

Magnetic resonance imaging-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) has become popular as an incisionless mode of neurosurgical treatment. However, head pain during sonication is common and its pathophysiology remains poorly understood. ⋯ Most patients in our cohort experienced pain during MRgFUS. The distribution and intensity of pain varied according to the skull density ratio, indicating that the pain might have had different origins. Our results may contribute to the improvement of pain management during MRgFUS.

Lifestyle factors and long-term survival in patients with chronic non-cancer pain: a nationwide cohort study in South Korea.
This study aimed to investigate the association of modifiable lifestyle factors with long-term survival outcomes in patients with chronic non-cancer pain (CNCP) in South Korea. ⋯ Lifestyle factors, including previous/current smoking, heavy alcohol consumption, and physical activity, were associated with a higher 5-year all-cause mortality risk among patients with CNCP in South Korea.
