Male sperm quality and risk of recurrent spontaneous abortion in Chinese couples: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To assess the association of conventional semen parameters and sperm DNA fragmentation with risk of recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). ⋯ The results of this analysis support an association of sperm density, sperm viability, sperm progressive motility rate, normal sperm morphology rate, sperm deformity rate, as well as sperm DFI with RSA. However, given the significant heterogeneity between studies and the lack of more detailed data on the subjects, further large-scale prospective studies are needed.

Prognostic role of albumin level in heart failure: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Hypoalbuminemia (HA) is common in HF, however, its pathophysiology and clinical implications are poorly understood. While multiple studies have been published in the past decade investigating the role of serum albumin in HF, there is still no consensus on the prognostic value of this widely available measure. The objective of this study is to assess the prognostic role of albumin in heart failure (HF) patient. ⋯ Our results suggest that HA is associated with significantly higher in-hospital mortality as well as long-term mortality with a predictive accuracy comparable to that reported for serum BNP. These findings suggest that serum albumin may be useful in determining high-risk patients.

Procalcitonin (PCT) was used for predicting the development of acute kidney injury (AKI) in several studies recently. We aimed to investigate the accuracy of PCT for predicting AKI in this study. ⋯ PCT may be a potential predictor for the development of AKI.

Liberal blood transfusion strategies and associated infection in orthopedic patients: A meta-analysis.
It remains unclear whether transfusion strategies during orthopedic surgery and infection are related. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether liberal blood transfusion strategies contribute to infection risk in orthopedic patients by analyzing randomized controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ This pooled analysis of RCTs demonstrates that liberal transfusion strategies in orthopedic patients result in a nonsignificant increase in infections compared with more restrictive strategies. The conclusions are mainly based on retrospective studies and should not be considered as recommendation before they are supported by larger scale and well-designed RCTs.

The high expression of CHD1L and its clinical significance in human solid tumors: A meta-analysis.
Chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 1-like (CHD1L) is an oncogene. It was cloned from 1q21 chromosome region of hepatocellular carcinoma in 1991. CHD1L is up-regulated in many kinds of cancers and is involved in the carcinogenesis and development of tumors. More and more studies have shown that over-expression of CHD1L is associated with poor prognosis of tumors. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of CHD1L in human solid tumors. ⋯ The high expression of CHD1L is associated with poor OS as well as related to tumor differentiation, tumor size, and distant metastasis, which can be served as a prognostic marker and a potential predictor of clinical pathology in human solid tumors.
