Risk of adverse reactions associated with inhaled corticosteroids for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A meta-analysis.
In the majority of current therapeutic regimens for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchodilators are coupled with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) to lower the inflammatory response and improve symptoms. This study aims to evaluate the safety of ICS in the treatment of COPD. ⋯ ICS does not increase the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with COPD, but it does increase the risk of URTI, pneumonia, oral Candida infections, and musculoskeletal disorders in patients with COPD.

To systemically evaluate the efficacy and safety of diterpene ginkgolides meglumine injection (DGMI) on cerebral infarction (CI). ⋯ Available evidence suggested that DGMI can significantly improve the clinical efficiency in the treatment of CI. DGMI is an ideal treatment for CI, which has high clinical application value.

Apatinib, a novel tyrosine kinase inhibitor independently developed by China, has been widely used in the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in recent years. For more than a decade, sorafenib has been the classic first-line treatment option for patients with advanced HCC. However, the results of clinical studies comparing the efficacy and safety of these 2 drugs are still controversial. Therefore, the aim of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of apatinib versus sorafenib as first-line treatment for advanced HCC. ⋯ In the setting of first-line treatment of advanced HCC, apatinib has improved short-term efficacy (ORR) compared with sorafenib, but the safety and long-term efficacy of apatinib are inferior to sorafenib.

Currently, the optimal treatment for neoadjuvant therapy for locally advanced esophageal cancer is not clear, and there is no evidence that neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is superior to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (nCT). Due to the publication of new clinical trials and defects in previous meta-analyses, we conducted an updated meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of nCRT and nCT. ⋯ Our meta-analysis found superior efficacy associated with nCRT compared with nCT in both tumor regression and prolonged survival, but increased the risk of postoperative mortality and grade 3 + AEs. Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was more likely to benefit from nCRT than esophageal adenocarcinoma in the term of OS.

The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) and conventional instrumentation (CI) for unicompartmental knee arthroplasty. Our hypothesis was that the PSI would be superior to CI in improving implant positioning and clinical function. ⋯ Our study findings suggest that the PSI confer an advantage in achieving superior tibial component coronal alignment, whereas the CI associated with better femoral component coronal alignment. However, no significant differences were observed between the groups in terms of other parameters. Future studies with larger sample sizes are needed to validate these findings.
