Disrupted blood-brain barrier (BBB) in patients with ischemic stroke plays a critical role in malignant middle cerebral artery infarction (MMI) development. Cerebral white matter changes (WMC), particularly in the deep subcortical area or in severe one, may be also underlain by disrupted BBB. It is unclear whether the presence of WMC with potential premorbid disruption of BBB makes patients susceptible to MMI. ⋯ MMI and WMC are significantly associated such that MMI development is more likely when PV-WMC or deep-WMC is more severe. We hypothesize that Fazekas scale-defined severe deep-WMC and PV-WMC may be considered as clinically approachable predictors of MMI development. These findings support that the WMC with potential premorbid disrupted BBB may make patients susceptible to MMI, and further prospective study should be conducted to clarify this hypothesis.

Intensive pulmonary rehabilitation in a pediatric lung transplantation patient: A case report.
The pediatric lung transplant is a very important treatment for patients with end-stage lung diseae, and pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is also an important factor in determining the prognosis. However, there is no much literature available on pulmonary rehabilitation in pediatric patients' post lung transplant. Through this case report, we would like to present our intensive PR program for pediatric patients' post-lung transplant. ⋯ We describe an intensive PR program tailored to pediatric patients' post-lung transplant. The program was feasible and resulted in improvements in functional exercise capacity, lung function, and quality of life. Future research into our method is necessary for continued improvement of this novel program.

Anti-α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor encephalitis: A case report.
: Anti-α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor (AMPAR) is a subtype of glutamate receptor that mediates most of the fast excitatory neurotransmission in the brain. Anti-AMPAR encephalitis is an autoimmune-mediated neurological disorder, frequently accompanied by the presence of neoplasms, comprising a spectrum of paraneoplastic syndrome. ⋯ Though progress has been made in recent years in diagnosis and treatment for autoimmune encephalitis, it is challenging to diagnose due to the similarity in clinical findings with other autoimmune or infectious encephalitis. In addition, it is necessary for these patients to regularly have tumor screening, considering AMPAR antibody encephalitis is closely associated with neoplasm, and the incidence of paraneoplastic syndrome is 63% to 70%.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing has attracted wide attention for its potential and abilities in the assistance of surgical planning and the development of personalized prostheses. We herewith report a unique case of chronic clavicle osteomyelitis treated with a two-stage subtotal clavicle reconstruction using a 3D printed polyether-ether-ketone (PEEK) prosthesis. ⋯ Personalized 3D printed prosthesis is an effective and feasible method for reconstruction of complex bone defects.

Studies have shown that Huangqi (HQ) has anti-aging efficacy. However, its active ingredients and mechanisms for anti-aging are still unclear. In this study, we will systematically screen the active ingredients of HQ and explore the possible mechanism of HQ in prevention from aging through network pharmacology technology. ⋯ KEGG pathway enrichment analysis obtained 110 aging related pathways (P < .05), including hypoxia inducible factor 1 signaling pathway, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complication, among others. Sixteen effective ingredients of HQ and 28 targets against aging were identified through network pharmacology. Multiple pathways were involved in the effect of HQ on preventing aging.
