This retrospective study aimed to explore the effect of orthodontic treatment (ODT) on anterior tooth displacement (ATD) caused by periodontal disease (PD). A total of 72 patients were selected and were divided into a control group (n = 36) and an experimental group (n = 36). Patients in both groups received conventional periodontal treatment. ⋯ After treatment, the patients in the experimental group achieved more improvements in probing depth (P < .01), percentage of bleeding sites (P < .01), clinical attachment loss (P < .01), clinical crown length (P = .04), and periodontal tissue of the affected tooth (periodontal pocket depth (P < .01), and bleeding index (P < .01)), than those of patients in the control group. This study suggests that ODT is beneficial for ATD caused by PD. Future studies are still needed to verify the findings of this study.

Videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS) is a noninvasive radiographic procedure that examines the oral, pharyngeal, and cervical esophageal stages of swallowing. Tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) is difficult to diagnose depending on its size and location. However, how VFSS can be of benefit in the diagnosis of TEF has not been reported yet. ⋯ This case alerts clinicians to the possibility of TEF as a diagnosis when the aspirate leaks from the upper esophagus and through the posterior wall of trachea in the esophageal phase of VFSS.

Gardner syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant disorder with a high degree of penetrance, which is characterized by intestinal polyposis, osteomas, and dental abnormalities. Majority of patients with Gardner syndrome will develop colorectal cancer by the age of 40 to 50 years. Mutations in the adenomatous polyposis coli gene are supposed to be responsible for the initiation of Gardner syndrome. ⋯ We reported serial mutations in key genes responsible for initiation and progression of colorectal cancer from a patient with Gardner syndrome.

There is no systematic review to compare the efficacy of acupuncture and acupotomy in patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy. It is worthy to critically review the evidence of the comparison of these 2 therapies to inform clinical practice. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of acupuncture and acupotomy in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy and to provide evidence for clinical practice. ⋯ 10.17605/OSF.IO/U7T6A.

Myeloid sarcoma of the pancreas: A case report and literature review.
Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is an extramedullary mass, consisting of myeloid blasts with or without maturation, which efface the normal tissue architecture. It occurs mainly in lymph nodes, skin and soft tissue, testis, bone, peritoneum, and gastrointestinal tract, but rarely in the pancreas. Because their clinical courses, treatments, and prognoses are quite different, it is crucially important to distinguish between MS and pancreatic cancer. ⋯ When we encounter a patient suspected of pancreatic cancer with blood cell abnormalities and no significant increase in carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), we need to be aware of the possibility of pancreatic MS. Preoperative pathological biopsy and IHC are indispensable. Misdiagnosis is common if we rely solely on imaging.
