Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder with increasing incidence. The externalizing and internalizing problems among children with ASD often persistent and highly impair functioning of both the child and the family. Children with ASD often develop gut-related comorbidities and dysbiosis can have negative effects on not only the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, but also psychological symptoms. Dietary exclusions and probiotic supplements also have been investigated in the management of ASD symptoms. Especially, there is some anecdotal evidence that probiotics supplements are able to alleviate GI symptoms as well as improve behaviors in children with ASD. ⋯ PROSPERO 2019 CRD42019132754.

Many clinical trials and systematic reviews have suggested that acupuncture (include moxibustion) could be effective in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). However, clinical practices vary greatly leads to different choices which are mainly based on personal experience. The aim of this Bayesian network meta-analysis is to compare the efficacy of different acupuncture methods for DPN. ⋯ To find the most effective acupuncture therapy for the treatment of DPN supported by evidence-based medicine.

Statin/ezetimibe combination therapy vs statin monotherapy for carotid atherosclerotic plaque inflammation.
It remains uncertain whether statin/ezetimibe combination therapy serves as a useful and equivalent alternative to statin monotherapy for reducing atherosclerotic plaque inflammation. The aim of the present study was to compare the effects of statin/ezetimibe combination therapy and statin monotherapy on carotid atherosclerotic plaque inflammation using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) imaging. Data were pooled from 2 clinical trials that used serial 18FDG PET/CT examination to investigate the effects of cholesterol-lowering therapy on carotid atherosclerotic plaque inflammation. ⋯ There were significant decreases in total and LDL cholesterol levels in both groups at follow-up (P < .001). There were no significant correlations between the percent changes in MDS TBR of the index vessel, changes in the lipid, and high-sensitive C-reactive protein levels. The reduction in carotid atherosclerotic plaque inflammation by statin/ezetimibe combination therapy was equivalent to that by the statin monotherapy.

There is currently no optimal treatment modality for refractory or relapsed Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL). In recent years, programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed cell - ligand 1 pathway blockade and histone deacetylase inhibitors have emerged as promising strategies for refractory or relapsed ENKTL. Accumulating evidence has shown that therapeutic effects of anti-PD-1 antibody could be enhanced by histone deacetylase inhibitors. ⋯ Thus, combination of sintilimab and chidamide can be used to treat relapsed ENKTL following treatment failure from chemo-, radio-, and immuno-therapy. A clinical trial has been launched.

Major adverse cardiac and cerebral events (MACCE) are common complications, which prolong hospitalization and increase mortality rate in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients who underwent continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). Therefore, this study aimed to investigate MACCE occurrence and its potential predictive factors in those patients. In this prospective cohort study, 196 diagnosis of ESRD patients who underwent CAPD treatment in our hospital were eligible, and their clinical data (including demographic data and biochemical indexes) were documented. ⋯ Furthermore, age, peritoneal dialysis duration (PDD), C-reactive protein (CRP), fasting blood glucose (FBG) and total cholesterol high correlated with increased accumulating MACCE occurrence, while high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) high correlated with decreased accumulating MACCE occurrence. Notably, by further multivariate Cox's proportional hazard regression analysis, age, PDD, CRP, serum uric acid, and FBG high were independent predictive factors for raised accumulating MACCE occurrence, while HDL-C high was an independent predictive factor for attenuated accumulating MACCE occurrence. MACCE are common; besides, age, peritoneal dialysis duration, C-reactive protein, serum uric acid, fasting blood glucose, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol serve as potential markers for indicating MACCE in ESRD patients who underwent CAPD.
