With the emergence of COVID-19, telemedicine use has increased dramatically as clinicians and patients have looked for alternatives to face-to-face care. Prior research has shown high levels of patient satisfaction and comparable quality of care. Video visits have been hypothesized to be one way to reduce burnout among clinicians, but there has been minimal research on physician views of virtual care. We sought to measure family physician experience with video visits at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ This study is among the first to assess physician experience with video visits. As the visits are perceived as shorter, they may offer a unique opportunity to address clinician burnout. There was a high level of satisfaction at our institution despite multiple technical challenges.

. Seminomatous germ cell tumour (SGCT) is a rare but curable malignancy of young adults. The literature on management and outcome of SGCT is scarce from India. We report the demography and treatment outcome of SGCT at our centre. ⋯ . SGCTs have a high cure rate. Long-term follow-up is essential for monitoring toxic effects. Early diagnosis, avoidance of testicular violation and multidisciplinary management are the key features for better long-term outcome in SGCT.

The resurgence of syphilis among pregnant women in southern Chile.
National rates of HIV, gonorrhoeae and syphilis have increased in Chile in recent years, but it is not known if syphilis among pregnant women (PW) is also escalating. ⋯ Resurgence of syphilis among pregnant women is happening in southern Chile and is associated to adverse-pregnancy outcomes.

Multiple myeloma (MM) represents the second-most common hematologic malignancy. In the 1980s, induction therapy with alkylating agents, such as anthracyclines and steroids, as well as high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation were the main therapeutic approaches for MM. Since the introduction of more effective drugs, such as proteasome inhibitors, immunomodulatory drugs, monoclonal antibodies and histone deacetylase inhibitor, the new therapeutic algorithm allows of achieving a significantly improvement of prognosis. ⋯ Also, this is particular true in specific situations, such as extramedullary manifestations, in which tumor mass reduction becomes an urgent clinical need, or in case of chemotherapy-induced stem-cell mobilization. Moreover, melphalan represents the gold standard conditioning regimen since 2002, either alone or, possibly in the next future, in combination with busulfan. Finally, new chemotherapeutic agents with new mechanisms of action, such as melflufen, are in early experimental phase.

We sought to establish reference values of the functional independence measure (WeeFIM; Unified Data System for Medical Rehabilitation, Buffalo, NY, USA) for children aged 3-7 years in India using this cross-sectional study. ⋯ . We have provided reference values for WeeFIM in children of India aged 3-7 years (35-84 months). There were no differences between boys and girls regarding WeeFIM performance. Children in private schools showed better performance versus children in government schools in the early age ranges. We could not find any effect of socioeconomic status on WeeFIM raw rating or functional independence level.
