Effects of magnesium valproate adjuvant therapy on patients with dementia: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Current research has found contradictory results on the treatment of magnesium valproate (VPM) in patients with dementia (PwD). ⋯ By meta-analysis, evidence was found to support VPM additional used for the treatment of cognitive function, psychiatric symptoms, or disease improvement in PwD. VPM may be a potential drug to aid in the treatment of dementia patients. However, there was lack of enough evidence to classification of dementia severity in our inclusion study. More research is still needed, including clinical trials evaluating VPM as a complementary therapy.

The impact of alfentanil supplementation on the sedation of bronchoscopy: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
The efficacy of alfentanil supplementation for the sedation of bronchoscopy remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the influence of alfentanil supplementation on the sedation during bronchoscopy. ⋯ Alfentanyl supplementation benefits to reduce coughing scores and dose of propofol for bronchoscopy, but increases the incidence of hypoxemia. The use of alfentanyl supplementation for bronchoscopy should be with caution.

Acupuncture and moxibustion for chronic fatigue syndrome: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.
Research into acupuncture and moxibustion and their application for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) has been growing, but the findings have been inconsistent. ⋯ The effect of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of CFS was significantly higher than that of other treatments. Traditional Chinese medicine should be used more widely in the treatment of CFS.

Lateral epicondylitis is one of the most common causes of elbow pain. Most patients recover with conservative treatments; however, some patients require surgical intervention. There are 3 common procedures offered: open tenotomy, arthroscopic tenotomy, and percutaneous microtenotomy. In comparison, percutaneous microtenotomy has been proven as a less invasive procedure to treat lateral epicondylitis. We reviewed the literature on the safety and efficacy of using a microdebrider coblation wand to treat lateral epicondylitis, and we compared its outcomes to open and arthroscopic tenotomy. ⋯ Percutaneous microtenotomy performed with a microdebrider coblation seems to be an effective treatment for lateral epicondylitis that provides similar outcomes to the surgical techniques with a lower rate of complications.

Value of clinical tests in diagnosing anterior cruciate ligament injuries: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
This study compared 4 clinical tests with reference to magnetic resonance imaging and arthroscopic visualization to comprehensively evaluate their diagnostic value for anterior cruciate ligament injuries. ⋯ Existing evidence shows that these clinical tests have high diagnostic efficacy for anterior cruciate ligament injuries, and that every test has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, the above results should be validated through additional studies, considering the limited quality and quantity of our sample.
