Similar appearance of different multifocal carpal bone destructing disease entities in 3 patients: A case report.
Several diseases feature tumors, or tumor-mimicking lesions, that further invade the bone and surrounding joints of the wrist region. Here, we describe 3 rare cases of multiple destructed carpal bones and adjacent joints in different disease entities confirmed via pathologic diagnosis. ⋯ We report 3 rare disease entities, presenting with multifocal osteolytic lesions in the wrist. They all presented with similar clinical manifestations, and the final diagnoses were made via pathological evaluation. Compared with tenosynovial giant cell tumor and calcifying aponeurotic fibroma, rheumatoid arthritis had the poorest outcome.

Serum levels of the soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) correlates with disease activity in early rheumatoid arthritis and reflects joint damage over time.
Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) is intensively studied as a biomarker of inflammation and disease outcome in various diseases. In rheumatoid arthritis (RA), suPAR have shown an association with inflammation and swollen joints, but data on suPAR in relation to early disease course and disease progression are lacking. This study investigates the potential of suPAR to predict or reflect disease outcome in early RA. ⋯ In conclusion, suPAR levels associate with disease activity in early untreated RA and reflects joint damage at later stages. Increased suPAR in established RA could indicate patients in need of frequent monitoring of joint status, irrespective of disease activity. In the view of suPAR as a rapidly emerging biomarker, it is important to be aware of its ability to reflect both inflammation and subsequent damage.

Articular cartilage degeneration has been recognized as the primary pathological change in osteoarthritis (OA). Mechanisms that govern the shift from cartilage homeostasis to OA remain unknown. Previous studies have reported that intrinsic circadian clock in chondrocytes could function to optimize cartilage repair/remodeling to optimum times of day, but little is known about its molecular mechanisms. This study attempted to investigate the potential role and mechanism of circadian gene Clock in OA pathology. ⋯ Clock knockdown can attenuate ROS-mediated senescence of chondrocytes through restoring autophagic flux in non-circadian manner, providing a potential therapeutic target for OA.

The Prevalence of Sjögren's Syndrome in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients and Their Clinical Features.
To estimate the prevalence of Sjögren's syndrome (SS) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and to compare the clinical features of RA patients with and without SS. ⋯ The prevalence of SS among RA patients was 8.7% according to rheumatologists' diagnosis. The presence of SS did not affect the treatment patterns of RA patients. However, the autoantibody profiles and demographics of RA patients with SS differed from those of patients without SS.
