The goal of this research is to explore the incidence and risk factors of symptomatic spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) following cervical spine surgery. ⋯ OPLL involved segments are significantly correlated to the incidence of postoperative symptomatic epidural hematoma.

Although it is often assumed that preinjury anticoagulant (AC) or antiplatelet (AP) use is associated with poorer outcomes among those with acute subdural hematoma (aSDH), previous studies have had varied results. This study examines the impact of preinjury AC and AP therapy on aSDH thickness, 30-day mortality, and extended Glasgow Outcome Scale at 6 months in elderly patients (aged ≥65). ⋯ Further studies with larger sample sizes are necessary to confirm these observations, but our findings do not support the preconceived notion in clinical practice that antithrombotic use is associated with poor outcomes in elderly patients with moderate or severe TBI.

Case Reports
Perirenal hematoma and delayed contrast metabolism after cerebral intravascular therapy: A case report.
Hematomas after percutaneous angiography often occur in the thigh, retroperitoneal, intraperitoneal, or abdominal wall. Renal hematoma after percutaneous angiography is very rare. ⋯ Though the patient missed timely diagnosis and treatment, fortunately no catastrophic events occurred. Meanwhile, the potential causes, diagnosis, and therapeutic management were all discussed.

Loss to follow-up (LTF) and unplanned readmission are barriers to recovery after acute subdural hematoma evacuation. The variables associated with these postdischarge events are not fully understood. ⋯ Patients at high risk for LTF and unplanned readmissions, as identified in this study, may benefit from targeted resources individualized to their needs to address barrier to follow-up and to ensure continuity of care.

Chronic subdural hematomas (CSDHs) are common in the elderly population and patients taking antiplatelet/anticoagulation medications. Middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization has become an adjunctive treatment to observation and surgery. Despite many embolization techniques, best practices for optimal CSDH resolution remain unknown. ⋯ Distal penetration of embolic material, particularly n-butyl cyanoacrylate, into the falx may lead to more rapid improvement of CSDH.
