Multicenter Study
Determinants and practice variability of oxygen administration during surgery in the U.S., a retrospective cohort study.
The best approaches to supplemental oxygen administration during surgery remain unclear, which may contribute to variation in practice. This study aimed to assess determinants of oxygen administration and its variability during surgery. ⋯ Among adults undergoing surgery with anesthesia and tracheal intubation, supplemental oxygen administration was variable and appeared arbitrary. Most patient and procedure factors had statistical but minor clinical associations with oxygen administration. Medical center and anesthesia provider explained significantly more variability in oxygen administration than patient or procedure factors.

Multicenter StudyAdvances in pediatric anesthesia services over the past 10 years in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.
To improve and maintain quality and safety in anesthesia, standards have been proposed regarding human resources, facilities and equipment, medications and intravenous fluids, monitoring, and the conduct of anesthesia. Compliance with these standards remains a challenge in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and results in high morbidity and mortality particularly in children. This aim of this study was to assess the progress made in improving the pediatric anesthesia infrastructures, human resources, education, medications, and equipment in French-speaking SSA over the past 10 years (2013-2022). ⋯ Progress have been made over the last 10 years in French-speaking SSA to improve infrastructures, human resources, education, medications, and equipment for pediatric anesthesia in French-speaking SSA. However, major efforts must be continued. Standards adapted to the local context should be formulated.

Multicenter StudyIs General Anesthesia for Peripheral Vascular Surgery Correlated with Impaired Outcome in Patients with Cardiac Comorbidity? A Closer Look into the Nationwide Danish Cohort.
General anesthesia (GA) may impair outcome after vascular surgery. The use of anticoagulant medication is often used in patients with cardiac comorbidity. Regional anesthesia (RA) requires planning of discontinuation before neuraxial blockade(s) in this subgroup. This study aimed to describe the effect of anesthesia choice on outcome after vascular surgery in patients with known cardiac comorbidity. ⋯ RA may be associated with a better outcome than GA after lower extremity vascular surgery in patients with a cardiac comorbidity. Prioritizing RA, despite the inconvenience of discontinuing anticoagulants, may be recommended.

Multicenter StudyAnaesthesia praCtice for Caesarean dElivery Snapshot Study (ACCESS): Protocol and baseline characteristics of registered centres.
Specific guidelines to manage caesarean delivery anaesthesia are lacking. A European multicentre study, ACCESS investigates caesarean delivery anaesthesia management in European centres. In order to identify ACCESS participating centres, a registration survey was created. ⋯ The ACCESS registration survey revealed variability in volume and CD practice as well as training-levels and staffing among European countries. The ACCESS study (https://www.access-study.org/) aims to generate practice data to guide CD anaesthetic management strategies.
