Randomized Controlled TrialThe effect of intravenous lidocaine infusion on subarachnoid anesthesia in patients undergoing total knee replacement: a randomised controlled trial.
Intravenous lidocaine is a non-opioid analgesic adjunct for perioperative pain relief. The aim of our study was to explore whether concurrent administration of intravenous lidocaine prolongs the duration of sensory block during total knee replacement (TKR) under spinal anaesthesia. ⋯ During unilateral TKR under spinal anaesthesia, concurrent use of intravenous lidocaine prolonged sensory block and reduced postoperative analgesic requirements.

Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of ciprofol after continuous infusion in elderly patients.
Ciprofol, a novel intravenous anesthetic, which has primarily been used for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in adults, is characterized by rapid onset, short duration of action, and quick and smooth recovery. However, the pharmacokinetic characteristics of continuous infusions and the correlation between the plasma concentration and the bispectral index (BIS) in elderly patients are still unknown. ⋯ Ciprofol, a novel intravenous anesthetic, can be safely and effectively used in elderly patient continuous infusion with minimal injection pain. Plasma concentrations of ciprofol correlate well with BIS values, helping control sedation depth. For elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal tumor surgery, an optimal maintenance dose of 0.8 mg/kg/h is recommended.

Influence of intravenous lidocaine infusion on haemodynamic response to tracheal intubation and metabolic-hormonal responses during laparoscopic procedures in children: a randomised controlled trial.
Lidocaine, a widely used local anaesthetic, also serves as an adjuvant in pain management. However, its use in children is off-label. This study aimed to determine if intravenous lidocaine alleviates the haemodynamic, metabolic, and hormonal responses to intubation and laparoscopic surgery in children. ⋯ Although the studied intervention appears to be safe, with no clinical side effects observed and serum lidocaine levels remaining below the toxic threshold, its intraoperative administration is not recommended, as it does not demonstrate any significant benefit during the anaesthesia period when compared to placebo.

Efficacy of ultrasound guided erector spinae plane block compared to wound infiltration for postoperative analgesia following laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy: a double-blinded randomized controlled trial.
Postoperative pain remains a significant problem in patients undergoing donor nephrectomy despite reduced tissue trauma following laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy (LLDN). Inadequately treated pain leads to physiological and psychological consequences, including chronic neuropathic pain. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided ESPB provided effective pain relief compared to wound infiltration with local anaesthetic in patients who underwent LLDN.

Intravenous Lidocaine for Gut Function Recovery in Colonic Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Despite the recovery advantages of minimally invasive surgical techniques, delayed return of gut function after colectomy is a common barrier to timely discharge from hospital. ⋯ Among patients undergoing elective minimally invasive colon resection, perioperative administration of 2% intravenous lidocaine did not improve return of gut function at 72 hours.
