Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a significant health concern worldwide, and good glycemic control is the basis of avoiding disease progression. Herbal tea, as a convenient and effective medication method, has gained popularity among many diabetic patients. However, there are no systematic reviews or meta-analyses to evaluate the clinical efficacy of herbal tea on T2D. ⋯ CRD42019129863.

Pediatric seizures are commonly encountered in emergency medical services (EMS). Evidence is accumulating that the rate of hypoglycemia in this setting is low, challenging the concept of routine prehospital glucose measurement. ⋯ Compliance is suboptimal, varying with patient age, race, and EMT-P presence. Testing increases when antiepileptic drugs are used. Hypoglycemia in tested patients was infrequent; however, proper treatment for hypoglycemic seizures will not be delivered if testing does not occur. It is worthwhile examining the utility of routine testing in this setting; however, until such time as protocols are revised, regional EMS administration should focus on education and uniform compliance with state protocols.

Predictors of poor glycemic control in adult with type 2 diabetes in South-Eastern Nigeria.
The study investigated predictors of poor glycemic control in type 2 diabetes (T2DM). ⋯ Age, WHR, FPG, and SBP were significantly associated with differences in glycemic control. The elderly and FPG outside tight control showed significantly increased odds of poor glycemic control status.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Routine glucose assessment in the emergency department for detecting unrecognised diabetes: a cluster randomised trial.
To determine whether routine blood glucose assessment of patients admitted to hospital from emergency departments (EDs) results in higher rates of new diagnoses of diabetes and documentation of follow-up plans. ⋯ Glucose and HbA1c screening of patients admitted to hospital from EDs does not alone increase detection of previously unidentified diabetes. Adequate resourcing and effective management pathways for patients with newly detected hyperglycaemia and diabetes are needed.

To examine the prospective associations between spinal pain exposures and risk factors for cardiovascular disease in children and explore the mediating role of health-related physical activity. ⋯ These findings suggest a potentially important link between spinal pain and cardiovascular risk in girls that may be independent of health-related physical activity. These slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.
