Effect of Hydroxyethyl starch (HES) versus 5% albumin solution on intra-abdominal pressure in severe burn patients: A prospective randomized clinical trial.
Massive burn patients are at risk of developing intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) as a complication of resuscitation. ⋯ Both HES and 5% albumin solution are effective and safe colloids for burn resuscitation. As regards the IAP, it seems that both 5% albumin and HES have comparable effect regarding IAH in severely burn patients. Both HES and 5% albumin were partially equal in terms of renal involvement and vital data stability.

The effects of acupressure on post-dressing pain in burn patients: A clinical randomized trial.
Burns often cause severe pain, especially during dressing changes. This study aimed to investigate the effect of acupressure on pain during dressing changes in burn patients. ⋯ Considering the experience of severe pain in burn patients, acupressure is recommended as a complementary method along with modern medicine to reduce these patients' pains.

Clinical efficacy of rhGM-CSF gel and medical collagen sponge on deep second-degree burns of infants: A randomized clinical trial.
This study aimed to observe clinical efficacy of recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) gel, medical collagen sponge and rhGM-CSF gel in combination with medical collagen sponge on deep second-degree burns of head, face or neck in infants. ⋯ rhGM-CSF gel in combination with medical collagen sponge is significantly effective in treating deep second-degree burns of head, face or neck in infants. This combination is beneficial for infection control, acceleration of scab dissolving and wound healing, and reduction of scar hyperplasia and pigmentation, which is worthy of clinical application and promotion.

Randomized Controlled TrialEvaluation of the Effect of Cichorium intybus L. on the Liver Enzymes in Burn Patients: A Randomized Double-Blind Clinical Trial.
Burn injuries are considered an important public health problem in the world. Burns are considered the fourth most common kind of trauma in the world, after traffic accidents, falls, and interpersonal violence. Various biochemical agents are involved in the burn healing process such as cytokines (such as IL-6 and TNF-α), antioxidants, and liver and kidney damage biomarkers. ⋯ The treatment lasted for 4 weeks. According to the results of the study, although the average of liver enzymes at the end of the study does not show a significant difference between the two groups, the level of liver enzymes in each group decreased on the 15th day of the study compared to the first day. This trial is registered with IRCT20180609040016N1.

Intravenous Autologous Bone-Marrow-derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Delay Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Swine.
Rationale: Early post injury mitigation strategies in ARDS are in short supply. Treatments with allogeneic stromal cells are administered after ARDS develops, require specialized expertise and equipment, and to date have shown limited benefit. Objectives: Assess the efficacy of immediate post injury intravenous administration of autologous or allogeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to smoke inhalation and burns. ⋯ Both autologous and allogeneic MSCs suppressed systemic concentrations of TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor-α). Conclusions: The intravenous administration of three doses of freshly processed autologous bone marrow-derived MSCs delays ARDS development and reduces its severity in swine. Bedside retrieval and administration of autologous MSCs in swine is feasible and may be a viable injury mitigation strategy for ARDS.
