To compare the 30-day outcome (mortality and/or ICU admission) of patients admitted for moderate-severe SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia treated with dexamethasone after the Recovery study versus those treated with weight-adjusted methylprednisolone. ⋯ Mortality and admission to the ICU were lower in patients treated with weight-adjusted methylprednisolone compared to those treated with dexamethasone.

Postoperative early neuropraxia after lumbar disc herniation surgery is common. The emergence of new paresthesia findings with increased sensory and motor deficits in the postoperative period suggests iatrogenic neuropraxia. This study aimed to discuss the causes and prognosis of iatrogenic neuropraxia detected in the early postoperative period in patients who have been operated on for lumbar disc herniation. ⋯ Iatrogenic neuropraxia is a finding whose cause cannot be determined by quantitative criteria. It is common in patients who underwent aggressive discectomy. Methylprednisolone treatment is effective in recovering the paresthesia finding faster and may show that the radicular injury is in the neuropraxia stage in the early period.

Observational StudyPrescription of Steroids in General Pediatric Intensive Care Patients-A Two-Center Retrospective Observational Study.
Designing randomized trials to determine utility, dose, and timing of steroid administration in the management of critically unwell children may be difficult owing to a high proportion of patients who receive steroid as part of current care. We aimed to describe steroid use among all patients on two general PICUs. ⋯ Steroids are widely used in pediatric critical illness and nonsurvival associated with increased frequency of use. This association appears to be related to steroid class and timing of dose, both likely to reflect indication for steroid prescription. Prospective trials are required to estimate these complex risks and benefits, and study design will need to consider these patterns.
