Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyEffects of Butyphthalide Combined with Idebenone on Inflammatory Cytokines and Vascular Endothelial Functions of Patients with Vascular Dementia.
To determinate the clinical effect of butyphthalide combined with idebenone in the treatment of vascular dementia (VD) and the influence on inflammatory cytokines and vascular endothelial functions. ⋯ Butyphthalide combined with idebenone can effectively reduce serum inflammatory factor level of VD patients, regulate vascular endothelial functions, relieve dementia degree, and improve cognitive function and daily activity ability.

How Clinicians Discuss Medications During Primary Care Encounters Among Older Adults with Cognitive Impairment.
People with cognitive impairment experience high rates of polypharmacy and potentially inappropriate medication use. How clinicians communicate about medications may affect to what extent patients and family companions understand and participate in decisions about medication use. ⋯ This study offers insight into key language clinicians can use to initiate discussions about optimizing prescribing, as well as barriers they face in doing so. Examples identified in these transcripts should be tested with patients and caregivers to examine how such communications are received and interpreted. Future research should develop and test interventions that seek to overcome obstacles to optimizing prescribing for older adults with cognitive impairment.

Promoting activity, Independence and stability in early dementia (PrAISED): a, multisite, randomised controlled, feasibility trial.
We tested the feasibility of delivering and evaluating a complex therapy intervention which aimed to promote activity and independence for people with early dementia (PrAISED). Feasibility questions were on: recruitment, randomisation, intervention delivery, adherence and withdrawals, level of supervision required, adverse events, data collection and sample size assumptions. ⋯ We conclude that with some adjustments to the trial protocol, it is feasible to deliver the PrAISED intervention and conduct a trial.

Improved patient participation through advance care planning in nursing homes-A cluster randomized clinical trial.
To improve patient participation in advance care planning in nursing homes where most patients have some degree of cognitive impairment. ⋯ Patients with cognitive impairment should be included in advance care planning supported by next of kin. A whole-ward approach may be used to implement advance care planning.

The Effect of a Nurse-Led Cognitive Behavioral Protocol on Depressive Symptoms and Coping Strategies of Dementia Caregivers.
Family caregivers of patients with dementia (PWD) often experience depressive symptoms and use poor coping strategies. Cognitive behavioral interventions may enhance positive appraisals of caregiving-related issues and the utilization of active coping strategies among caregivers, which may help prevent caregiver depression. However, there is a shortage of primary, community-based mental health services in China, and little research has been conducted on the effect of nurse-led mental health programs in this population. ⋯ This nurse-led cognitive behavioral intervention was effective in decreasing depressive symptoms and improving active coping among study participants. The findings suggest the improvement of mental health services and social policies in China to support family caregivers of PWD.
