Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyMarked reduction of early stent thrombosis with pre-hospital initiation of high-dose Tirofiban in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
No randomized comparisons are yet available evaluating the effect of pre-hospital high dose tirofiban on the incidence of early stent thrombosis after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). ⋯ Pre-hospital initiation of high-dose tirofiban reduces the 30-day incidence of stent thrombosis in STEMI patients treated with primary PCI and stenting. Early stent thrombosis and pre-hospital initiation of high-dose tirofiban were independent predictors of 30-day mortality.

Multicenter StudyEffect of anti-platelet factor-4/heparin antibody induction on early saphenous vein graft occlusion after coronary artery bypass surgery.
Antibodies to complexes of heparin and platelet factor 4 (PF4) are capable of causing heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). Recent evidence suggests that anti-PF4/heparin antibodies may be prothrombogenic even in the absence of thrombocytopenia and clinically-recognized HIT. ⋯ Induction of anti-PF4/heparin antibodies, even those capable of heparin-dependent platelet activation, is not independently associated with early SVG occlusion or adverse clinical outcomes after CABG surgery.

Multicenter StudyRisk stratification and outcomes in hemodynamically stable patients with acute pulmonary embolism: a prospective, multicentre, cohort study with three months of follow-up.
The role of risk stratification in normotensive patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is still unclear. ⋯ We did not find prognostic markers useful as predictors of in-hospital PE-related adverse events. Clinical score, troponin I and hypoxemia predicted in-hospital all-cause mortality. Clinical score and troponin I independently predicted 3-month all-cause mortality.

Multicenter StudyCardiac biomarkers for risk stratification in non-massive pulmonary embolism: a multicenter prospective study.
Troponins (cTnI and cTnT), N-terminal pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP), myoglobin, heart-type fatty acid-binding protein (H-FABP) and fibrin D-Dimer are emergent candidates for risk stratification in pulmonary embolism (PE). ⋯ NT-proBNP appears to be a good risk stratification marker in identifying low-risk patients with non-massive PE who could be treated in an outpatient setting.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyDalteparin for the prevention of recurrence of placental-mediated complications of pregnancy in women without thrombophilia: a pilot randomized controlled trial.
The role of anticoagulants for the prevention of placental-mediated pregnancy complications is uncertain. ⋯ In this pilot study, dalteparin is effective in decreasing the recurrence of placental-mediated complications in women without thrombophilia. Our results require confirmation in further randomized trials.
