To examine the safety and effectiveness of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) for reducing pain and improving functionality in people with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). ⋯ ESWT is an effective treatment for improving pain and functionality in patients with KOA in the short term with few minor side effects. Further clinical trials should include longer follow-up periods and be designed to lower the risk of bias.

The role of normothermic machine perfusion in liver transplantation.
To expand the donor pool of suitable organs for transplantation, there is an increased interest in utilizing extended criteria donor grafts (ECD). Ex-situ machine perfusion has shown to be a promising new modality in the organ preservation field to reduce injury and recover ECD liver grafts. Machine perfusion (MP) is considered a significant improvement in the field of transplantation over the past 20 years. ⋯ Machine perfusion moved from the experimental phase to a more mature phase after safety was confirmed by initial clinical trials. Now, it is time to confirm its superiority and cost-effectiveness before a broader clinical use. In this paper we review the history, current status including outcomes of all clinical trials, limitations, and future trends of normothermic machine preservation.

A comparative overview of COVID-19, MERS and SARS: Review article.
Following the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), a third, highly pathogenic coronavirus, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) appearing at end of 2019 led to a pandemic, increased panic and attracted global attention. This review analyzes the epidemiology, etiology, clinical characteristics, treatment and sequelae of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to help provide direction for further studies that can help understand COVID-19.

On March 11, 2020, the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). Approximately 19.3 million people have now been infected and over 700,000 have died. This global public health crisis has since cascaded into a series of challenges for leaders around the world, threatening both the health and economy of populations. This paper attempts to compartmentalise leadership aspects, allowing a closer examination of published reports and the analysis of current outcomes, thus enabling the authors to formulate a number of evidence-based recommendations on the de-escalation of restrictions.

The current dreadful pandemic of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is playing havoc with humanity, socio-communal systems and economic reserves worldwide. Certain countries have managed to curtail COVID-19 crisis to some extent, however, a great majority still remains helpless in containing this outbreak. Rapidly evolving disease patterns and complex epidemiology of the COVID-19 necessitate a tailored approach by medical experts in dealing with this devastating outbreak. ⋯ Laparoendoscopic procedures increase the risk of aerosol exposure, disease transmission and contamination. Limiting the number of operating room personnel, use of disposable instruments, small trocar incisions, negative pressure environment, and setting energy devices at low modes can help reduce disease transmission during laparoendocsopic procedures. This write up sheds lights on the impact of the COVID-19, big data analytics of response of medical personnel in understanding and curtailing the disease process and the consensus guidelines for carrying out laparoscoendoscopic procedures.
