The impact of serum uric acid (SUA) levels on metabolic disorders, particularly concerning the development or reversal of prediabetes, is not well understood. While high uric acid is recognized for its association with metabolic disturbances, its specific influence on prediabetes progression and regression has been insufficiently explored. This study investigates how SUA levels correlate with the natural course of prediabetes, shedding light on its management. ⋯ Elevated SUA levels are linked with a higher likelihood of progressing from prediabetes to diabetes but do not significantly forecast a regression to NFG.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are membrane vesicles derived from cells and serve as an endogenous mechanism for intercellular communication. Since the discovery of their capacity to effectively transfer biological information, their potential as drug delivery vehicles has garnered significant scientific interest. Particularly, EVs derived from mesenchymal cells (MSC-EVs) have emerged as a highly promising method for drug delivery. ⋯ This review explores the application of MSC-EVs in maxillofacial tissue regeneration, periodontitis, temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis, Sjögren's Syndrome, oral cancer, and other oral diseases. Additionally, it outlines potential future directions for the development of MSC-EVs. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of MSC-EVs in oral disease treatment and to stimulate interest in their applications for targeted drug delivery.

"Medical deserts" are areas with low healthcare service levels, challenging the access, quality, and sustainability of care. This qualitative narrative review examines how artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models (LLMs), can address these challenges by integrating with e-Health and the Internet of Medical Things to enhance services in under-resourced areas. It explores AI-driven telehealth platforms that overcome language and cultural barriers, increasing accessibility. ⋯ It assesses AI's strategic use in data analysis for effective resource allocation, identifying healthcare provision gaps. AI, especially LLMs, is seen as a promising solution for bridging healthcare gaps in "medical deserts," improving service accessibility, quality, and distribution. However, continued research and development are essential to fully realize AI's potential in addressing the challenges of medical deserts.

Evaluating the McMahon score for predicting mortality in earthquake-induced rhabdomyolysis: a retrospective study.
In natural disasters like earthquakes, building collapses can trap individuals, causing crush syndrome and rhabdomyolysis. This life-threatening condition often leads to acute kidney injury. We aimed to determine the effectiveness of the McMahon score in predicting mortality due to rhabdomyolysis in patients affected by the earthquake. ⋯ The use of the McMahon score in emergency medicine and disaster management plays a crucial role in rapid decision-making processes due to its effectiveness in predicting mortality.

Immune inflammation is intricately associated with coronary artery disease (CAD) progression, necessitating the pursuit of more efficacious therapeutic strategies. This study aimed to uncover potential therapeutic targets for CAD and myocardial infarction (MI) by elucidating the causal connection between regulatory immune-related genes (RIRGs) and these disorders. ⋯ EIF2B2, FCHO1, and DDT represent risk loci for CAD progression within RIRGs. Our identification of these genes enhances understanding of CAD pathogenesis and directs future drug development efforts.
