Pediatric imaging has been identified as a key application of combined whole-body PET/MRI. First studies have revealed the clinical feasibility and possible advantages of PET/MRI over PET/CT and MRI. Besides a significant reduction in radiation exposure of about 50 - 75 %, combined whole-body PET/MRI offers the diagnostic advantage of the multiparametric characterization of pathophysiologic processes and helps reduce the number of necessary imaging studies. However, very few studies focusing on pediatric PET/MRI have been published to date. Additional studies are necessary in order to fully appreciate the clinical impact of this novel method. This review article shall summarize the existing literature concerning pediatric PET/MRI and give insight into the practical experience derived from over 160 pediatric PET/MRI examinations that were performed in Tübingen. ⋯ •Combined PET/MR is a promising imaging modality in pediatric oncology. •Using combined PET/MRI, diagnostic radiation exposure of pediatric patients and the number of necessary imaging studies can be reduced. •Further clinical studies are necessary in order to define specific indications for combined PET/MRI in pediatric radiology.

To implement automated CT dose data monitoring using the DICOM-Structured Report (DICOM-SR) in order to monitor dose-related CT data in regard to national diagnostic reference levels (DRLs). ⋯ • The newly developed software based on the DICOM-Structured Report enables large-scale cloud-based CT dose monitoring • The implemented software solution enables automated benchmarking in regard to national DRLs • The local radiation exposure from CT reached approximately 50 % of the national DRLs • The cloud-based approach offers great potential for multi-center dose analysis.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Full-Body Linear X-Ray Scanning in Multiple Trauma Patients in Comparison to Computed Tomography.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of full-body linear X-ray scanning (LS) in multiple trauma patients in comparison to 128-multislice computed tomography (MSCT). ⋯ The overall sensitivity of LS for truncal skeleton injuries in multiple-trauma patients was < 50 %. The diagnostic reference standard MSCT is the preferred and reliable imaging modality. LS may be valuable for quick detection of extremity fractures.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and functional outcomes in patients who underwent selective interventional embolization of renal pseudoaneurysms or arteriovenous fistulas at our center. ⋯ Arterial pseudoaneurysms and arteriovenous fistulas are rare but severe complications after partial nephrectomy. Selective microcoil embolization is a safe and effective kidney-preserving procedure for treating these complications. Embolization leads to a significant loss of renal parenchymal volume but not to a loss of renal function.
