Radiologists have been administering gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCA) in magnetic resonance imaging for several decades, so that there is abundant experience with these agents regarding allergic-like reactions, nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) and gadolinium retention in the brain. ⋯ · Bäuerle T, Saake M, Uder M. Gadolinium-based contrast agents: What we learned from acute adverse events, nephrogenic systemic fibrosis and brain retention. Fortschr Röntgenstr 2021; 193: 1010 - 1018.

Computed tomography (CT) is a central modality in modern radiology contributing to diagnostic medicine in almost every medical subspecialty, but particularly in emergency services. To solve the inverse problem of reconstructing anatomical slice images from the raw output the scanner measures, several methods have been developed, with filtered back projection (FBP) and iterative reconstruction (IR) subsequently providing criterion standards. Currently there are new approaches to reconstruction in the field of artificial intelligence utilizing the upcoming possibilities of machine learning (ML), or more specifically, deep learning (DL). ⋯ · Arndt C, Güttler F, Heinrich A et al. Multiple Myeloma Guidelines and Their Recent Updates: Implications for Imaging.
In 2014, the diagnostic criteria for multiple myeloma were updated, leading to revised recommendations for imaging modalities and definition of therapy response. This review provides an overview of the current definitions of monoclonal plasma cell disease, diagnostic options, and changes relevant to radiologists. ⋯ · Mosebach J, Thierjung H, Schlemmer H et al. Multiple myeloma is a malignant hematological disease characterized by uncontrolled proliferation of monoclonal plasma cells mainly in the bone marrow. Imaging plays a crucial role in diagnosis and follow-up. ⋯ · Kosmala A, Bley T, Petritsch B. Imaging of Multiple Myeloma. Fortschr Röntgenstr 2019; 191: 805 - 816.

Health technology assessments (HTAs) are an interdisciplinary method to support sustainable, evidence-based healthcare decisions. They systematically assess medical products, procedures, and technologies with respect to medical, economic, legal, social, and ethical aspects. ⋯ · Winkelmann C, Neumann T, Zeidler J et al.
