Retrospective. ⋯ The findings in this study indicate that PCF LIV selection may play a significant role in the development of mechanical complications and need for revision surgery. T2 LIV selection demonstrated a significantly lower rate of mechanical failure and revision surgery. Postoperative PROs up to 36 months are needed to evaluate effect of LIV selection on PROs.Level of Evidence: 3.

Effect of Topical Steroid on Swallowing following ACDF: Results of a Prospective Double-Blind Randomized Control Trial.
Randomized, double-blinded, controlled trial. ⋯ Local administration of corticosteroid after multilevel ACDF can decrease postoperative severity and symptomatology of dysphagia during the immediate postoperative period to 1-month postoperatively. The long-term effects of local steroid administration on fusion and other complications will need to be established in future studies.Level of Evidence: 1.

Long Term Patient Perception Following Surgery for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis if Dissatisfied at 2 Year Follow-up.
Longitudinal. ⋯ Having a low HRQOL score 2 years after surgery for AIS does not guarantee a low score 5 years after surgery. Promisingly, most patients demonstrate some improvement in all domains for patient-reported SRS-22 scores at 5-year compared to 2-year follow-up. Understanding the longer term postoperative evolution in patient-reported outcomes may help surgeons to effectively manage and counsel patients who are dissatisfied in the short term.Level of Evidence: 3.

A retrospective case series. ⋯ Our simulation of anterior implant impingement and subsequent adjustment of the degree of spinal correction was useful to prevent dislocation. However, this method did not prevent dislocation in some patients.Level of Evidence: 4.

Depression Symptoms Are Associated with Poor Functional Status Among Operative Spinal Deformity Patients.
Retrospective review of prospective multicenter database. ⋯ ASD patients with low MCS are more likely to experience functional limitations before and after surgery and are less likely to be satisfied postoperatively, even when similar clinical goals are achieved. Incorporating psychological factors may assist in decision making.Level of Evidence: 3.
