Prospective randomized. ⋯ Methylprednisolone instillation is associated with a large, transient reduction in ODI for patients with high preoperative ODI; there is no measurable effect on pain. There is equivocal effect on risk of subsequent reoperation. This issue was clarified in peer review but changes did not make it to the abstract. Therefore, the technique is likely best reserved for patients with significant preoperative disability.

Epidemiology and Comparative Analysis of Outcomes of Intramedullary Spinal Cord Tumor Between Pediatric and Adult Patients.
This was as clinical retrospective study. ⋯ We found that the clinical characteristics of ISCTs differed between pediatric and adult patients. In terms of histopathological types, astrocytoma was most common in pediatric patients. ISCT occurring at an early age may not be an indicator for poor prognosis.

Retrospective review of an adult deformity database. ⋯ T10PA was used to determine functional alignment, an alignment based on PI and age-appropriate physical function. Correcting patients to functional alignment produced improvements in clinical outcomes, with the lowest rates of PJK. This patient-specific approach to spinal alignment provides adult spinal deformity correction targets that can be used intraoperatively.

Retrospective database cohort study. ⋯ Surgical treatment for RAS is rare but increased over a 19-year period. Cases appear to be clustering by region, with the highest proportion in the South. The higher Elixhauser Comorbidity Index in RAS patients predicted higher costs, longer hospital stays, more complications (particularly respiratory), and more nonroutine discharge disposition than in other patients with NMS. RTT was independently associated with higher odds of complications and longer length of stay. Because RAS cases appear to be increasing in number, future studies should emphasize methods to reduce morbidity and investigate deformity-specific metrics to help better understand this population.

Retrospective cohort study. ⋯ This study demonstrates the disparity in telemedicine utilization across different populations within the surgical spine patient population. Surgeons may use this information to guide interventions aimed at reducing existing disparities and work with certain patient populations to find a solution.
