Hepatic attenuation differences associated with obstruction of the portal or hepatic veins in patients with hepatic abscess.
The purpose of our study was to determine the nature of the association between the attenuation difference of the hepatic parenchyma surrounding an abscess and obstruction of the regional portal vein or of the hepatic vein. ⋯ Parenchymal hypo- and hyperattenuation are frequently observed in the hepatic region surrounding an abscess on dynamic CT. Moreover, these parenchymal attenuation differences are associated with regional portal or hepatic vein obstruction.

Diagnostic and therapeutic use of sonography-guided iliopsoas peritendinous injections.
Our objective was to review our experience performing sonography-guided iliopsoas bursal/peritendinous injections as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool in the workup and treatment of patients with hip pain. ⋯ Sonography-guided iliopsoas bursal/peritendinous injections are useful in determining the cause of hip pain. They can provide relief to most patients with iliopsoas tendinosis/bursitis after hip replacement. The results of injection alone are not as successful in cases of idiopathic iliopsoas tendinosis/bursitis, but the technique can help determine which patients may benefit from a surgical tendon release.
