Correlation between vacuum phenomenon on CT and fluid on MRI in degenerative disks.
The purpose of this study is to correlate the presence of intradiscal vacuum phenomenon on CT to that of intradiscal fluid on MRI. ⋯ The replacement of intradiscal vacuum phenomenon by intradiscal fluid is a time- and position-dependent dynamic process and is related to Modic type 1 degenerative disk disease and degenerative endplate changes.

Prostate cancer detection on dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI: computer-aided diagnosis versus single perfusion parameter maps.
The purpose of this article is to assess the value of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) for prostate cancer detection on dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI). ⋯ CAD can improve the diagnostic performance of DCE-MRI in prostate cancer detection, which may vary according to zonal anatomy.

Gadoxetic acid-enhanced hepatobiliary phase MRI and high-b-value diffusion-weighted imaging to distinguish well-differentiated hepatocellular carcinomas from benign nodules in patients with chronic liver disease.
The purpose of this article is to evaluate the value of gadoxetic acid-enhanced hepatobiliary phase imaging and high-b-value diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for distinguishing well-differentiated hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) from benign hepatocellular nodules in patients with chronic liver disease using 3-T MRI. ⋯ Hypointensity on gadoxetic acid-enhanced hepatobiliary phase images and hyperintensity on high-b-value DWI to surrounding liver parenchyma suggest well-differentiated HCCs rather than benign hepatocellular nodules in chronic liver disease.

Historical ArticleMummified daughters of King Tutankhamun: archeologic and CT studies.
The purpose of this study was to use MDCT to examine two mummies found in the tomb of King Tutankhamun to estimate their gestational ages at mummification, to determine the mummification method, and to investigate the congenital deformities of one of the mummies that had been suspected at previous medical examinations. ⋯ The results of this study may set a precedent for use of CT and forensic image analysis in the study of ancient mummified fetuses.

ReviewBone marrow edema patterns in the ankle and hindfoot: distinguishing MRI features.
Many disorders produce similar or overlapping patterns of bone marrow edema in the ankle. Bone marrow edema may present in a few hindfoot bones simultaneously or in a single bone. The purpose of this pictorial essay is to provide guidelines based on clinical history and specific MRI patterns and locations to accurately identify the cause of ankle bone marrow edema. We will first focus on bone marrow edema in general disease categories involving multiple bones, such as reactive processes, trauma, neuroarthropathy, and arthritides. A discussion of bone marrow edema in individual bones of the ankle and hindfoot including the tibia, fibula, talus, and calcaneus will follow. Helpful hints for arriving at the correct diagnosis will be provided in each section. ⋯ After review of this article, radiologists should be able to use their knowledge of clinical history and specific MRI patterns and locations to accurately distinguish between the various causes of bone marrow edema in the ankle and hindfoot.
