Evaluation of the Macular Ganglion Cell-Inner Plexiform Layer and the Circumpapillary Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer in Early to Severe Stages of Glaucoma: Correlation with Central Visual Function and Visual Field Indexes.
To compare the circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (cpRNFL) and the macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) in glaucoma patients at different disease stages and to evaluate correlations between optical coherence tomography (OCT) parameters with central visual function and visual field (VF) indexes. ⋯ Inner macular parameters performed as well as cpRNFL in patients with different stages of glaucoma. Inferior macular GCIPL sectors, minimum GCIPL thickness, and the inferior cpRNFL quadrant best differentiate disease severity and correlate with central visual function and VF indexes.

Intravitreal Dexamethasone Implant versus Intravitreal Ranibizumab for the Treatment of Macular Edema Secondary to Retinal Vein Occlusion in a Chinese Population.
The aim of this work was to compare the efficacy of intravitreal dexamethasone implant (Ozurdex) and intravitreal ranibizumab (Lucentis) in the treatment of macular edema (ME) caused by retinal vein occlusion (RVO). ⋯ Intravitreal injection of Ozurdex and ranibizumab can effectively control ME secondary to RVO and increase a patient's BCVA. The advantages of Ozurdex are fewer injections and longer efficacy, while the advantages of ranibizumab include fewer side effects.

Relationship between Elevated Intraocular Pressure and Divided Peripapillary Sector Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness in a Cynomolgus Monkey Laser-Induced Ocular Hypertension Model.
We investigated the relationship between elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) and changes in global and peripapillary sector retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness around the optic nerve head (ONH) in the laser-induced ocular hypertension monkey model. ⋯ These results suggest that this model reflected the pathology of clinical glaucoma in terms of the specific pattern of RNFL thinning around the ONH.
