To provide a comprehensive review of the literature pertinent to the phenomenon of antineoplastic vesicant extravasation within the framework of common misconceptions held by oncology nurses. ⋯ Oncology nurses are in a strategic position to observe the feasibility and efficacy of prevention and management guidelines established at national and local levels. Oncology nurses involved in the administration of antineoplastic vesicant agents are responsible for maintaining a current knowledge base about vesicants and for planning nursing care within the established standards of practice.

To describe how a multidisciplinary task force on an oncology unit developed and implemented a program offering educational and emotional support for recently bereaved families. ⋯ These types of programs bring survivors and staff members together. Interaction in the program can enhance survivors' coping skills, acknowledge the bond between caregivers and survivors, and ease staff members' stress caused by caring for dying patients.

Experiences of completing cancer therapy: children's perspectives.
To explore the child's perspective of experiencing completion of cancer treatment. ⋯ Study findings provide an awareness of current practices administered around the time of completion and are meant to precipitate dialog with children and families to improve follow-up care for childhood survivors.

To evaluate the effects of hospice services on the quality of life of primary caregivers and to evaluate the validity and reliability of a new tool. ⋯ When offering support to primary caregivers, the hospice team should include the four domains (physical, emotional, social, and financial) and should focus on the interrelatedness of the patient's and caregiver's quality of life.
