To compare Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Pediatric Fatigue Short Form measures and legacy patient-reported outcome fatigue measures to capture cancer-related fatigue change in pediatric patients with cancer. . ⋯ Nurses have psychometrically strong options for measuring cancer-related fatigue in pediatric patients with cancer, but the PROMIS Pediatric Fatigue Short Form is applicable to more age groups.

Multicenter StudyOncology Nurses' Attitudes Toward the Edmonton Symptom Assessment System: Results From a Large Cancer Care Ontario Study.
To examine oncology nurses' attitudes toward and reported use of the Edmonton Symptom Assessment System (ESAS) and to determine whether the length of work experience and presence of oncology certification are associated with their attitudes and reported usage. . ⋯ Oncology nurses are integral to providing high-quality person-centered care. Using standardized approaches that enable patients to self-report symptoms and understanding barriers and enablers to optimal use of patient-reported outcome tools can improve the quality of patient care.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyConsistency of breast and arm symptoms during the first two years after breast cancer surgery.
To examine the severity and development of breast and arm symptoms separately during the two years following breast cancer surgery, and to examine whether previously defined predictors of arm symptoms are associated with breast symptoms. ⋯ For nurses monitoring women treated for breast cancer, the results of this study provide knowledge regarding the importance of early symptom identification and long-term symptoms after treatment.

Multicenter StudyEvidence-based practice beliefs and behaviors of nurses providing cancer pain management: a mixed-methods approach.
To describe evidence-based practice (EBP) beliefs and behaviors of nurses who provide cancer pain management. ⋯ Nurses' EBP beliefs and behaviors should be considered when developing strategies for sustaining evidence-based pain management practices. Implementation of the EBP process by nurses may not be realistic in the inpatient setting; therefore, hospital pain management policies need to be evidence-based and reinforced with nurses.

Multicenter StudyOlder adults newly diagnosed with symptomatic myeloma and treatment decision making.
To describe the preferences for participation in decision making of older adult patients newly diagnosed with symptomatic myeloma and to explore the association between sociodemographic variables and decisional role preferences. ⋯ Nurses and other oncology clinicians can elicit a patient's preferred level of participation in treatment decision making. Oncology nurses can make sure patients receive disease- and treatment-related information, encourage them to express their decisional role preference to the physician, develop a culture of mutual respect and value their desire for autonomy for treatment decision making, acknowledge that the right to make a treatment choice belongs to the patient, and provide support during treatment decision making throughout the care continuum.
