Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyOn a Trajectory for Success-9 in Every 10 People With a Degenerative Meniscus Tear Have Improved Knee Function Within 2 Years After Treatment: A Secondary Exploratory Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial.
To identify trajectories of patient-reported knee function over 5 years in patients with degenerative meniscal tears, and to explore whether baseline characteristics were associated with trajectories of sport and recreational function. ⋯ We found 3 distinct trajectories of patient-reported knee function over 5 years: (1) low, minimal improvement, (2) moderate, gradual improvement, and (3) high, early improvement. Nine in every 10 participants improved at least gradually over 2 years after diagnosis of a degenerative meniscal tear. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2021;51(6):289-297. Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyImmediate and Short-term Effects of Thoracic Spine Manipulation in Patients With Cervical Radiculopathy: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Thoracic spine thrust manipulation has been shown to improve patient-rated outcomes for individuals with neck pain. However, there is limited evidence of its effectiveness in patients with cervical radiculopathy. ⋯ Therapy, level 2. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2019;49(5):299-309. doi:10.2519/jospt.2019.8150.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyPragmatically Applied Cervical and Thoracic Nonthrust Manipulation Versus Thrust Manipulation for Patients With Mechanical Neck Pain: A Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial.
Study Design Randomized clinical trial. Background The comparative effectiveness between nonthrust manipulation (NTM) and thrust manipulation (TM) for mechanical neck pain has been investigated, with inconsistent results. Objective To compare the clinical effectiveness of concordant cervical and thoracic NTM and TM for patients with mechanical neck pain. ⋯ Level of Evidence Therapy, level 1b. Multicenter Study Pragmatic Clinical TrialIncreasing Recreational Physical Activity in Patients With Chronic Low Back Pain: A Pragmatic Controlled Clinical Trial.
Study Design Prospective, pragmatic, nonrandomized controlled clinical trial. Background Clinical guidelines recommend physical activity for the treatment of chronic low back pain. But engaging patients in physical activity has proven difficult. ⋯ Level of Evidence Therapy, level 2b. Registered June 7, 2012 at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT01631344). Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyContribution of Dry Needling to Individualized Physical Therapy Treatment of Shoulder Pain: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Study Design Multicenter, parallel randomized clinical trial. Background Myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) are implicated in shoulder pain and functional limitations. An intervention intended to treat MTrPs is dry needling. ⋯ Registered February 11, 2009 at www.isrctn.com (ISRCTN30907460). J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2017;47(1):11-20.
