Does Movement Change When Low Back Pain Changes? A Systematic Review.
To investigate the relationship between changes in volitional spinal movement (including muscle activity) and changes in pain or activity limitation at the individual level in people with nonspecific low back pain. ⋯ A relationship between changes in movement and changes in pain or activity limitation was infrequently observed at the individual level; however, a paucity of high-quality evidence precludes a definitive understanding of this relationship. ReviewSticking to It: A Scoping Review of Adherence to Exercise Therapy Interventions in Children and Adolescents With Musculoskeletal Conditions.
To identify and categorize barriers, facilitators, and strategies to boost exercise therapy adherence in youth with musculoskeletal conditions to inform research and clinical practice. ⋯ A diversity of barriers to and facilitators of exercise therapy for youth with musculoskeletal conditions were identified. Efforts to link adherence-boosting strategies to an individual's needs should be considered. To find out which interventions enhance pain self-efficacy in people with chronic musculoskeletal pain and to evaluate the reporting of interventions designed to enhance pain self-efficacy. ⋯ There was low-quality evidence of a small effect of multicomponent exercise and psychological interventions improving pain self-efficacy in people with chronic musculoskeletal pain. To assess the effectiveness of weight-loss interventions on pain and disability in people with knee and hip osteoarthritis (OA) and spinal pain. ⋯ Weight-loss interventions may provide small to moderate improvements in pain and disability for OA compared to minimal care.
