Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Daily interruption of sedation in intensive care unit patients with renal impairment: remifentanil-midazolam compared to fentanyl-midazolam].
We compared extubation time following daily interruption of sedation in intensive care unit patients with renal impairment with two sedation regimes remifentanil-midazolam and fentanyl-midazolam. ⋯ Daily interruption of sedation with remifentanil is associated with shorter weaning and extubation time in patients with renal impairment. However further studies are necessary to determine if this issue is associated with lower rate of ventilation induced complications.

To analyse the current knowledge based on the experimental and clinical research studies focused on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. ⋯ The last international 2005 guidelines include significant modifications of CPR. However, many questions remain unresolved and controlled studies are still needed before other changes could be recommended for routine practice. Our greatest challenge and highest priority is the training of lay rescuers and healthcare providers in simple, high-quality CPR skills that can be easily taught, remembered, and implemented to save lives.

Case Reports[Treatment of a septic shock due to multiresistant Acinetobacter baumannii with tigecycline in combination].
We report a case of pulmonary and bloodstream infection due to multiresistant Acinetobacter baumannii six days after a severe trauma. Clinical condition transiently improved following antimicrobial treatment with ticarcillin-clavulanate and rifampicin. ⋯ Cure was achieved after a two week treatment with piperacillin-tazobactam, cotrimoxazole and tigecycline. This case shows that combined antimicrobial therapy including tigecycline can be relevant in some severe pulmonary infections due to multiresistant A. baumannii.
