Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Effects of music therapy in intensive care unit without sedation in weaning patients versus non-ventilated patients].
Music has been found to be an effective nonpharmacologic adjunct for managing anxiety and promoting relaxation in limited trials of critically ill patients. However, its effects have not been compared in intubated patients during weaning from mechanical ventilation with non-intubated patients spontaneously breathing. ⋯ A single music therapy session was found to be effective for decreasing anxiety and promoting relaxation, as indicated by decreases in heart rate, blood pressure, BIS and respiratory rate over the intervention period in intubated patients during weaning phase.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Analgesia after hip fracture repair in elderly patients: the effect of a continuous femoral nerve block: a prospective and randomised study].
The usefulness of peripheral femoral nerve block for pain management after hip fracture has been established. This prospective and randomised study compared the analgesia effect of a continuous femoral nerve block (CF) versus two conventional analgesia procedures after hip fracture. ⋯ Continuous femoral nerve block provided limited pain relief after hip fracture did not reduced side effects and induced an expensive cost.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Prevention of myoclonus after etomidate using a priming dose].
To investigate the influence of pretreatment with a low dose of etomidate (priming dose) on the incidence of etomidate-induced myoclonus. ⋯ Pretreatment with etomidate (0.03 mg/kg), given 60 seconds before induction of anesthesia, is effective at reducing etomidate-induced myoclonus, without related side-effect.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Clinical study of the laryngeal mask in paediatric. Comparison of the LMA-ProSeal and LMA-classic].
To compare the Classic laryngeal mask airway (MLC) and the ProSeal LMA (MLP), size 2 and 2.5 in terms of ease of insertion, leak pressure and side effects during insertion and extraction in the recovery room. ⋯ MLP is as easy to use in children as the MLC. MLP has the advantage of allowing rapid access to the stomach. It seems that the MLP is safer since its correct position is confirmed by easy gastric tube insertion.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Maternal postures and epidural analgesia during labour].
The evolution of birth is of interest for obstetricians and midwives. Postures with asymmetric stretching and balance, kneeling, or sitting have been claimed to be able to help foetal head rotation. Although walking during labour have no influence on the outcome of labour, hip-flexed postures enlarging the pelvic diameter are yet evaluated to improve the obstetric course of labour. ⋯ There were no differences between groups for the left and right total spread and upper level of epidural blockade, for the time to maximal block and pain relief. There was no motor block and no maternal or foetal side effects. We conclude that, for the three hip-flexed postures tested, position does not influence local anesthetic spread or symmetry of analgesia after induction of obstetric epidural anaesthesia.
