Spontaneous pneumothorax (SP) is a widespread clinical entity, and methods of managing adult SP remain controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to further determine the clinical efficacy and safety of simple aspiration (SA) in comparison to intercostal tube drainage (ITD) during the management of adult SP. ⋯ In the management of adult SP, the use of SA decreased the initial success rate but also decreased the duration of hospitalization and the need for operation compared with ITD. The incidence of adverse events did not differ between the two approaches. The research plan was registered at PROSPERO, and the registration number was CRD42023436770.

Diagnostic accuracy of prehospital lung ultrasound for acute decompensated heart failure: A systematic review and Meta-analysis.
Lung ultrasound (LUS) reduces time to diagnosis and treatment of acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) in emergency department (ED) patients with undifferentiated dyspnea. We conducted a systematic review to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and clinical impact of LUS for ADHF in the prehospital setting. ⋯ LUS had similar diagnostic test characteristics for ADHF diagnosis in the prehospital setting as in the ED. A positive prehospital LUS may be sufficient to initiate early ADHF treatment based on published test-treatment thresholds. More studies are needed to determine the clinical impact of prehospital LUS.

Efficacy and safety of tranexamic acid in acute traumatic brain injury: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Tranexamic acid (TXA) holds a pivotal role in the therapeutic approach to traumatic conditions. Nevertheless, its precise influence on diminishing mortality and limiting the progression of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) during the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains indeterminate. ⋯ TXA did not elevate the risk of adverse event, however, the lack of reduction in mortality and the poor clinical outcomes constrain the value of clinical application. Early administration of TXA (within 3 h) may significantly decrease the likelihood of ICH growth in patients with TBI.
