Randomized Controlled Trial
Hemodynamic characteristics of midazolam, propofol, and dexmedetomidine in healthy volunteers.
To study the effect of intravenous (IV) sedation on blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), and respiratory rates (RR) to determine if IV sedatives differ with respect to their effect on BP, HR, and RR. ⋯ When administered in sedative doses, dexmedetomidine and, to a lesser extent, midazolam, reduces BP in a dose-dependent fashion. Dexmedetomidine also reduces HR. Midazolam does not affect BP or HR.

Comparison of volume-controlled and pressure-controlled ventilation in steep Trendelenburg position for robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.
To compare the effects of volume-controlled ventilation (VCV) and pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV) on respiratory mechanics and hemodynamics in steep Trendelenburg position. ⋯ PCV offered greater C(dyn) and lower AP(peak) than VCV, but no advantages over VCV in respiratory mechanics or hemodynamics.

The effect of nitrous oxide on intracuff pressure of the size 2 ProSeal Laryngeal Mask Airway.
To investigate intracuff pressure changes in the ProSeal Laryngeal Mask Airway (PLMA) during 50% nitrous oxide (N₂O) anesthesia. ⋯ PLMA intracuff pressure increased significantly during 50% N₂O anesthesia. The children's postoperative throat complication rate also was increased.

Preincisional local infiltration of tramadol at the trocar site versus intravenous tramadol for pain control after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
To compare the effects of preoperative intravenous (IV) tramadol and preoperative tramadol infiltration of trocar sites on postoperative pain and postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Trocar site infiltration of tramadol improves early postoperative pain and decreases PONV.
